Is ga-h55m-usb3 compatible with Kingston DDR3-1600 4GB ?
« on: July 20, 2013, 09:55:36 am »
MOBO: ga-h55m-usb3 (rev1)
CPU: i3 530
BIOS: F11
new DDR3: KVR16N11S8/4  ( Kingston DDR3-1600 4GB/512Mx64 CL11 Memory) x2   (tried with  Kingston and Micron chip)
old  DDR3: KVR133D3N9/2G x2

From the user manual of the mobo, this mobo should be able to support DDR3 4GB x4 .
This  mobo  is working  perfectly with DDR3-1333 2GBx2  (dual channel).

I intend to add 2 more new ddr3 sticks:  DDR3-1600 4GB x2 .
Yet, the system unable to pass the test of  memtest86+  if the new ddr sticks was added.

So , i un-plugged all other sticks   and left only 1 DDR3-1600 4GB in the mobo (run at 1333MHz,tried all slots on mobo).
Same problem occur in the memtest86+ , the system will hang immediately .
Yet, i can enter BIOS without any problem.

I  tried to run the ddr3  in lower frequency (1066Mhz), the problem still persist.
Is anybody know this issue and how to solve it?

Any ideal or reply will be appreciate.
Thanks.

p/s:  sorry for my broken english.

After waiting so many days, I just got the reply from technical support services, what a  disappointing ,didn't help anything at all  (i am waiting for new replies from them):

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, we do not recommend you to use different brand/type/size of memory module on a motherboard because it is possible to cause stability or unknown problems. Hence, if possible, we strongly suggest you install identical (same brand/type/size) four memory modules.

Furthermore, because there are too many kinds of memory modules available in the retail market, it is very difficult to test all of the modules with our MB products. Due to we are unable to find out KVR16N11S8/4 in memory support list, thus, we are sorry that we can not guarantee the memory module you mentioned can work properly on this motherboard.

Here is our memory support list for you to reference, please click HERE(http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3308#memory%20support%20list).

If you need to install four memory modules, please install four KVR133D3N9/2G or four KVR16N11S8/4. In order to avoid hardware compatibility issue, suggest you to test before purchasing. If that is not possible, please then find a local store you can trust where can provide good after sale service to make sure you can get full support in the future.

If you still have any further question or suggestion about our products/service, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will try our best to help you resolve the problem ASAP.

Your reply didn't help anything at all.
The main problem is: the mobo is not working even with a single KVR16N11S8/4 .

Can you tell me directly if h55m-usb3 support DDR3-1600 1.5v 4GB memory stick or not?
(i just wanna run it at 1333 1.5v)
*****(omittted by poster)****, this case is very rare .
From my experience, i knew it may be a old bios that cause the problem.
Can u pls offer a newer bios to solve the problem?

Dear Lewis Lim,

As we mentioned in previous mail, due to KVR16N11S8/4 is not on memory support list, therefore, we are unable to guarantee whether this memory modules can work normally with GA-H55M-USB3(rev. 1.0).

We also suggest you can update attached the latest BIOS to test again. Before updating BIOS, please do not forget to extract it first.

And for BIOS update instructions, please click HERE. Please do not forget to Load Optimize Default BIOS setting and please also do not try to overclock your system while updating BIOS.

Meanwhile, we also suggest you can contact the original supplier to see if the can have another memory modules in memory support list to test. Since we have tested Kingston 4GB KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX 1600 MHz and Hynix 4GB HMT351U6AFR8C-H9 1333 MHz memory modules without problem.

Regards,
GIGABYTE

tried the beta BIOS, problem un-solved  >:(
and, i closed the case.
The memory list on gigabyte website is too old and unpratically, and lack of 4GB sticks.
Maybe it is time to consider buying a new pc with  Haswell , or Broadwell next year .

this is my last reply.

I had tried BIOS 12g .
It acted like BIOS F8 ,the mobo stay at POST for a few second and then it reboot by itself ,and unable to receive the DEL signal from PS/2 Keyboard.

I think it is time to let it go and keep moving on , i already waste too much time for a 5 minutes work.
Thanks for your effort and suggestion.
