GA-P55 UD3R lag and very slow

GA-P55 UD3R lag and very slow

Anyone else with this mobo have problems?

Such as very slow and laggy system while you are copying / moving large files (several gig in size) from 1 partition or from 1 drive to another?

My system bogs down to an extreme level. If I start a 7gig file transfer and while that is happening I launch firefox it can take up to 1:30 minutes on average for FF to even open up, once loaded it can take up to 20 seconds for a web page to load, and when it does load there is a 1-2 second lag when I scroll the page.

Other apps lag as well, MSN will take ages to load up. Even windows apps like device manager will take ages to load up.

I initally thought the HDD (which I bought new with the mobo & CPU) might be dodgy so I put in a brand new HDD, things are admittedly a lot better now with this new, new HDD and my system is at least usable now, FF will take 20 sec to load while doing a file transfer, some apps still take a while to load. It's a bit of a hit and miss affair, sometimes apps will be quick, sometimes slow. but no where near as slow as before.

My system is

i7 860
2 x 4G Kit ddr3 1600 G.Skill-Ripjaws

My best guess it's the mobo as I highly doubt my HDD's are at fault.

Anyone have similar problems?

Might be handy if you mention the drive you are using :)

Don't take this the wrong way mate, but you are positive you installed all the correct drivers for your boards, SATA controller drivers etc yes?

Perhaps you could grab some screenshot from Device Manager and let us know what UDMA mode the thing is running in currently? (HDTune would be ok for this, while you are at, run HDTune bench and post up a pic could you?)

Sorry VenGanZa, my mistake I forgot to qoute, obviously I meant the OP.

The "Full Member" is just your status on the forum. I think it just means that you have been here a while and are getting older ;D Yes that must be it because mine says"Senior" ::) Maybe the next level is "Deceased" :'(

what are the ich controller settings for the hard drive? are you running ide or ahci mode? if your running ahci mode have you installed the latest intel rapid storage technology driver?

or have you got your drive plugged into the jmicron controller?
