How long does it take before you see the POST screen?

How long does it take before you see the POST screen?
« on: July 27, 2010, 10:07:26 am »
The specifications of my system are as follows:

Windows XP Pro SP3
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (Rev. 1.0)
Benq G2222HDL
XFX8600GT 256MB (connected to the monitor via DVI cable)

Once the power button is hit, the screen of the monitor is blank and the system takes about 15~20 secs before POST text appears on the screen. Kindly advise if you've a solution to solve the problem.

Thanks.

Sounds as if it is searching for something maybe the floppy drive etc and that is what is taking the time. If so disable anything not used.

Someone at other forum claimed it's again a typical problem of X58 board. He said his UD7 took ages to boot. How's about your board?

Mine gets to a usable state in under 55 seconds. To be fair though I am booting off a SSD which tends to speed things up.

Thanks. In your case, once the power button is hit, do you need to wait long before you see the POST text on screen? Mine is about 20 secs. I really don't know what the system does in the "dark"...

No, definitely not anywhere near 20 secs. I will time it for you next time I reboot, onemilimeter.

Thanks... Probably Gigabyte should consider to hire you to help runn3R and forumers :)

Well I wouldn't mind and I am sure that absic would be happy to as well. The thing is the way they look at it why pay someone to do what they are doing for free anyway ::)

Gigabyte can give free products as reward and as test platforms to assist you solving the forumers' problem. If I meet Henry Kao next time I will promote this to him... Ha Ha...  ;D

Well... Since GGTS is so bad and if Gigabyte has the plan to hire someone to help the forum, then you're right person due to your huge passion and respectable knowledge for the job... :)

Well thanks for your undeserved flattery(how many karma points did we say?  ;)) but I am sure that they would just bring in someone else from the company. Besides this should all be in the other thread not here really. http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2362.msg13172.html#new

Well while it was quiet I thought I would take the chance and test my boot cycle for you. It takes roughly 14 seconds to get to the POST screen, 13 to the beep. To be honest it never seems that long but when you actually time it there you go.
