karma & smite button question

do you have to make a certain number of posts before you get to see/use the karma or smite buttons?

I joined the forum when I was visiting my uncle and I thought it was because he is a registered member and I was using his PC but now I am back at home I still can't see these buttons so wonder if I have to make a certain number of posts first.

Not that I am aware of virtualcrowbar, maybe you need to apply a little leverage My son joined the forum a while ago and has the same problem, I thought it might jst be that the site recognised this internet address and only allowed one. A lot of people aren't even aware of what they are for.

Thanks. I only know what they are for because my uncle told me about them.
Do you think I should wait and see if I can use them later or report it as a problem.

I would just make a few more posts first because runn3R the moderator isn't back until Monday anyway. If nothing changes then report it to him.

Yes, the minimum number of posts needed to modify (applaud / smite) karma is 5.

Thanks for the info. It seems so long ago, that I started to post here, that I couldn't remember if there was a newbie threshold!
