No I would have to agree. I think that nowadays with the systems that people generally run you need to look at a 650W single rail PSU as a starting block. Anyway I am glad that your system seems more stable now and hopefully with the next driver realease it will be even better. ;)

I had same problem with my ATI5870 a few days ago.
When try to resolve problem with ATI VIVO. I uninstall driver and restart comp, clean with driver cleaner, restart again and only windows welcome screen.
I had to start windows in safe mode and restore point. It has resolved the problem. I was mad when saw only welcome screen.
ATI 5870 EyefinityX6 (Gigabyte), GA-790XTUSB3(Gigabyte), AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE, Kingston HyperX DDR3 2X2 GB, Windows 7 32 bit.
Gigabyte is still my favorite.

Yes there have been a lot of problems recently with drivers especially for the nVidia cards. Hopefully they are getting sorted out now.

Does Gigabyte have any ideas what can be wrong ? Latest Nvidia drivers didn't solve the problem unfortunately  :(

The latest 10.9 driver set is causing a problem at the moment for the ATI cards.

I am afraid the newest available drivers from nVidia are  fairing no better.

The problem is that even though Gigabyte customises the drivers they releasaed they are still basically the same as the plain vanilla ones from the  original chip manufacturers with extras.

Hi, this is my first post and I didn´t see the need to open a new topic....

I have the same problem with the logon screen in Windows 7 Pro...

First my specs.

Q9550 (No OC)
Asus P5Q (It worked on two other sites)
2HDD (Samsung F3 1TB y WD Green 1TB) both of them ERROR free
2x2GB GSkill PI DDR2-900 @800MHZ (error free more than 10 loops on memtest)
ANTEC NeoPower 650W
Pioneer DVD/RW Drive
XFi Fatality PCI
2 Case fans (80mm)
Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU Cooler (connects to MB)

And now a list of what I have tried:

1.- Uninstall video driver and reinstall (problem) and uninstall Sound driver (using computer with and with out sound driver, same problem)
2.- Change Video driver (have used 258.96 WHQL, 260.99 WHQL, 262.99 WHQL, 263.09 WHQL, and 266.35 BETA) downloaded several times each one from different sites, to avoid corrupted drivers
3.- Update Motherboard BIOS (using last one available from ASUS site)
4.- Eror checked the HDD with several tools and made a Low Level Format, Used either AHCI or IDE
5.- Several formats on system drive and have used 3 differents Win 7 discs (Win 7 Pro 32bits, Home Premium 64Bits, Ultimate 64Bits)
6.-Al the Windows Updates availabe installed
7.- Starting the machine in Safe Mode with Win7 generic driver (NO PROBLEM) , using Nvidia VGA driver in safe mode will freeze (problem)
8.- Update the the BIOS of the VGA to F3 (was F2)
9.- Activate ACPI 2.0 option in motherboard BIOS

The only thing that works is to NOT install any video driver and use only the generic one that comes with windows, this way will pass de logon screen and works perfect (except the parts that need some sort of video like aero, games, etc.)

Really don´t know what else to try except RMA....

Hi,

I also have the same problem as the previous poster and tried everything he has done to correct it. Additionally, I changed memory, and power supply with no success.  The only difference is my system specs:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X58 - Bios v603
CPU: Intel i7 970 (stock speed)
Memory: 2 x 2Gb Corsair Dominator (CMP4GX3M2A1600C8)
Video: Gigabyte GTX 460 (GV-N460OC-1GI) - Bios F3
OS: Win 7 64 bit
Hard Drive: Seagate ST31000528AS

This card has worked fine for the last 6 months in my previous build consisting of a gigabyte p35-ds3r, q6700, and 4gb OCZ reaper memory. There is a long thread describing this phenomenon over at the nvidia forums. Direct link: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=187401&st=0

There have been a lot of problems mainly with the drivers for this nVidia 460 GPU. It would seem as if the problem is not a Gigabyte one as even the nVidia drivers don't seem to be stable.

I would suggest taking out a ticket with GGTS and see what they have to say.

Thx.

I have the ticket in GGTS already, and I think the only solution is RMA, lets see what happens next.

The official NVIDIA 266.58 WHQL was released today and it is currently allowing my computer to boot into win 7 64 bit fine. Time to run some tests to see how it holds up! Good luck everyone!

Sorry to get your hopes up but the saga continues. Fresh install of win 7 64/vista 32 before installing the new driver. I can now boot into the desktop without freezing but it's only a matter of time until I get the "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" error. It recovers but continues to stop until the computer reboots. I have attached the debug log.
