GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 users: Floppy Drive Controller?

Any other GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 users seeing "Floppy drive controllers -> Standard floppy disk controller" in Windows' Device Manager?

I have a rev.1.1 GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3.  I checked in the BIOS and don't even see a Floppy Controller in there that I can disable.

Every other board I've owned would have an option in the BIOS to disable this so that it doesn't appear in Windows.

It's not a big deal, but it still annoys me.

No I don't have it on mine but I have the P67 but even so it should be the same. Have you tried removing it in Device Manager and then doing a refresh ?

No Floppy A at the bottom of the Standard CMOS page in the BIOS?  (Sorry, just looked at the board, no floppy on-board anyway so that would be a NO)

Did you do a clean install, or move this install from another motherboard?  If you moved it from a board that had floppy, then you can just delete/uninstall the device in device manager

Yes, I uninstalled it by right clicking on it and clicking on "Uninstall".  Then I right clicked on the very top of the tree and clicked on "Scan for hardware changes" and it comes right back.

This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  I DBAN'd my hard drive (3 passes) before installing Windows.

Weird. Try doing a complete CMOS clean.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Well we don't have the option of trying another BIOS yet so I would suggest that you contact GGTS and let them know and maybe they can do a BIOS fix.

Have you installed the latest intel Chipset Drivers?   If not grab them here, second link

Then delete the device in device manager and do not scan for new hardware this time.  Then install this and reboot and then see if it's still there or comes up again

Ok, so just followed your procedure.  It's still there.

I wonder if wiping my hard drive and doing another fresh install will fix this?

I would doubt it actually. If the other measures haven't worked then I don't see why a fresh install would make any difference. It won't hurt to try it if you want to but I feel it would be a waste of time.

I agree, and you said this was basically a clean install anyway, so the same would probably happen.

What you can do if it's bugging you is just go into device manager and disable the device, then it wont ask you for drivers (If it is now?)

Otherwise just ignore it, as it's nothing to worry about anyway

Actually I have a confession to make. I have just checked my P67A-UD5 build and it does indeed show it on there. I then tried to uninstall it and get shot of it in every way that I could but with no success. I ended up just disabling it. Not that it was giving any problems at all.

Weird.  Anyone at Gigabyte know about this?  How could it be showing up in Windows if the board doesn't actually have a floppy controller built in?
