The problem with Serial COM in GA 945GCM-S2L
« on: August 11, 2011, 07:32:27 am »
Hi Dear's

Some time ago I wanted to use the RS232 cable to charge the receiver. I does not answer.
Cable was tested. Connections were tested. I've also successfully tested with this system. But this system does not respond.
I will show you DeviceManager in the PORTS to COM1.

Motherboard: Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L
I did install all the drivers
I will update the latest BIOS F7.

But does not answer.

Please help

Thanks

Hi and welcome.

I am not entirely clear about your problem but I take it that the seriel port isn't working.

What does it have against it in Device Manager ?

Are you sure that you have used the correct drivers for the chipset ?

Try the latest BIOS version.

So the com port isn't working on any BIOS version ?

You didn't answer my previous question. What does it show in Device Manager against the com port ?

Well according to that there is no problem with the device.

Have you tried swapping the cable for a new one ?

Are you sure that whatever you are trying to connect to is working properly ?

It is possible but unlikely because Device Manager shows the com port as running ok and if there was any sort of problem with it normally it would show there. Have you got it enabled in the BIOS ?

Bios Setting ---> Integrated Peripherals ----> Onboard Serial Port 1 = Auto (rate)

So is it working alright now then ? I thought it must be a BIOS setting as Device Manager was sure it was working alright.
