Hey...just today my PC has started to blue screen when I attempt to shutdown the computer. I get these details:

Problem signature:

  OS Version:   6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

  BCP2:   FFFFF80002FAF4EA
  BCP3:   0000000000000000
  BCP4:   000000000000004E
  OS Version:   6_1_7601
  Service Pack:   1_0
  Product:   768_1

I have a minidump file...but don't know how to open it at this stage...hesitant to download 630mb to do it.

The blue screening started after I was toying with device manager...I disabled some usb device port or something. Apart from that I haven't detected anything or can't remember anythign else weird that's happened to make it start bluescreening.

The bluescreen only appears for about 1.5 seconds...so I can't read it.

Any help would be...............great!

thanks

Hi and welcome.

First thing I would advise you to do would be to go to Control Panel/System Properties/Advanced System Settings/Advanced tab/Startup and Recovery/Settings and untick the box marked Automatically restart and then OK.

That will stop the system rebooting before you can see what the BSOD says.

Try a system restore to see if you caused the problem assuming you periodically keep this
updated. You could also go through the USB devices checking each one to see if driver enabled.

Thanks guys...the problem was that in trying to troubleshoot an audio problem (my speakers emit a fizz/ whine/ electrical noise sound in time with things like mouse scroll wheel movement and web pages with a lot of loading images/ video/ grfx) I disabled a USB port of some description in device manager. As soon as I did that the PC started bluescreening. As soon as I re-enabled that USB port the PC went back to normal.

Glad your sorted. Hope you have got rid of noise also. This can be caused by layout
of speaker wiring causing cross pickup or feed back. Also mains earth loops can be a
problem.

@  hello people , what sort of audio equipment  are you using. If 2nd build looks as though problem
is external unless you have used some older parts with new board. Have you tried using simple twin speakers
to isolate the problem. Used different mains leads & checked mains earth connections. Sometimes ferrite
beads on leads can help. I personally have a mass of mains leads though most are hidden. Good screened
leads on audio are important.

Audio isn't my thing so one pair of speakers via KVM switch does 2 PCs. The other 2 PCs use small USB
speakers to avoid added transformers. One pair of speakers used to pick up my near neighbour who is
a radio Ham. On another Forum member updated Laptop & it started to play music when in use !!
