NEW MONSTER X79 BUILD COMING IN 2012
« on: November 03, 2011, 12:06:48 am »
Right folks ….. it’s about time I cut you in on the up and coming project planned for a MONSTER of a build for 2012…..based on, funnily enough………. the LGA2011 and ..... The up and coming X79 Boards…..What board I hear you ask……….Don’t know yet……no one does!…..just hope it's a killer……what Intel beast?……same answer….

All I can say at this point is after spending what I’ve spent so far.....  :'( :'( :'(…..it’s definitely happening and the build box is growing

What I can tell you so far

    I have 5x12v power supplies 26A
Will be running a total of 4 separate loops of pure silicon extruded tubing
Running a highly modified Ethylene Glycol Nano Fluid
Will have 1200W of solid state cooling
Be in a Humidity controlled case so we can all see it with no insulation on anything
The case alone will be down to -15C
And if all goes well…the CPU down to -30C

I’ll keep you posted as the pre-build gathers momentum and the design sets ……. there‘ll be a juicy review towards the end in two parts …..the build First….....then later running at what I can get out of it……Who know, 6.5Ghz is the target!…..

Some of the technology will be out there and it’ll be worth following…..including direct die injection  :o………

There’s some new things happening in the industry that I’ve been lucky enough to see it coming, approached the manufactures ….. And got my hands on some pretty amazing materials and compounds…… how does a 20% increase in coolant performance sound!  8)

Any and all donations of components would be welcomed and gratefully received and obviously would be aknowledged in the threads/publications!

                                                                              UPDATE!

Another Two sponsors have come good this week..... with UPS dropping off 5KGs of a new Desiccant compound not in the UK as yet....

"DU-CAL" by "DRIERITE" ..... is a new blend of Calcium Sulfate and Calcium Chloride that has the stunning ability to reduce a sealed humidity enclosure down to, and hold > 0.1% RH  (relative humidly) .....in fact it dries gases to a dryness of 0.005 mg/l or 2 PPM

This has been the Achilles heel for me for years and why the project was shelved several years ago......Now with a new dew point of -73C .... no insulation is required within the enclosure.

The second and no less important was 20M x 16mm heavy wall  pure Silicon extruded  tubing from OZ.......another amazing product that you can hold in your hand running fluid from -70C to 265C ..... try that with Polly-propylene

They both sound like they will help a lot in the chasing down of the illusive target that you are going for. That tubing sounds really like a major step forward in safety apart from anything else.

It all sounds very impressive Allan. look forward to learning more about the case & cooling. Stumbling block now is the MOBO
& how long before Intel come out with the full CPU package.

Think for the time being will stuff mine in Fridge, both cool & quiet.  ;D ::)

UPDATE

Another nice sponsor dropped off some wares today.......Humidity enclosure is now under way......one of my all time favourite materials is Polycarbonate.......first used it in OZ making production safety enclosures for Union-Carbide ...... yes the same company that killed more Indians then Custer

10mm solid sheet will stop a 9mm round at point blank.....and commonly known as "High Impact Plastic"....... you can hot or cold bend it like aluminium, hit it with a hammer, drill it, saw it, machine it....you can even heat it in oil and press it into dies......... multi-cell poly-card is 350% lighter then treble glazed Argon filled glass panels with twice the thermal performance .... why wouldn't you consider it for thermal enclosures.

Included a few pickies so you know what's coming...

I would have to go along with you there. It is a wonderful medium to work with although it does have it's drawbacks like if you cut or drill it you have to use a very slow speed and coolant.

Razor sharp drill bits, .... very low speeds........ sharp wood working bits work a treat too.....even spade bits...... my favourite is a 308 bolt action with a good scope ;)

It'll be a progressive liftoff......a couple  more minor sponsors came on this week......as material and product comes in and is being built.....I'll put out tastier bits occasionally.

No decision made on the MB to be used? Perhaps the Gigabyte X79 gaming board...or something of that description. I dont know if you've come across this...prices.

New technology + no real competition = Very high prices! Way to go Intel!!!  :D

Yes! ... The £ and $ figures are a little depressing as is what Ive spent to date , help and support will be important....No critical! ....but all I can do is keep knocking on doors and plug on with the build regardless .... planning can only work so far .... sometimes you just have to take it one day at a time.

The present financial climate.....is definitely not helping !
