ga-g41mt-usb3 windows 7 64bit ISSUE!!!
« on: November 16, 2011, 04:43:59 pm »
Hey Guys,

Bottom line:

Got the above mentioned motherboard with the INTEL pentium D 915 processor which is dual core and 64bit.

Windows 7 and VISTA 64 bit versions both freeze and very first installation screen.
Windows 7 and VISTA 32 bit versions install just fine with no issues whatsoever
Windows xp installs just fine as well
Ubuntu 10.04 64bit edition installs just fine as well.

I have tried different power supplies, RAM, optical drive, and have also turned most everything off in the bios such as USB controllers parallel ports,etc... with no help.

Any other ideas?

thanks!
Nate

Hi moegreen, ;)

Please describe your hardware (PSU, RAM, Video Card, etc) in the tower.

Have you tried install Window 7 64 bit with only ONE stick of Ram?

If you do not use USB 3 peripherals, desabled it in Bios. Remove a drivers pack, if already installed, of course.

on-board video card.. Also tried a EVGA geforce 7600GT.  Ram is gskill DDR3 1066 (2x4gb).  I have tried one stick at a time and in different slots.  Power supply is a brand new ANTEC 620watt

I even just used RT Seven Lite with all the available windows 7 64bit drivers from gigabyte added to my windows 7 .iso with no luck.  Freezes on very 1st installation screen.  Doesnt even finish the colored window coming up.

thanks,
Nate

Hi moegreen,

i view your motherboard here :
GA-G41MT-USB3 (rev. 1.3)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3797#

here you have a manual :
ftp://download.gigabyte.ru/manual/mb_manual_ga-g41mt-usb3%28d3v%29_v1.3_e.pdf

But I find this :
http://ark.intel.com/compare/27679,27680,27681,27682,27683,52274,52270,52277
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/io/i-o-controller-hub-7-datasheet.html

Conclusion the chipset ICH7 is not compatible with Intel 64 Technology.
I you find other things about this conclusion in datasheet, come here again.
Your CPU : Yes
http://ark.intel.com/products/27515/Intel-Pentium-D-Processor-915-%284M-Cache-2_80-GHz-800-MHz-FSB%29

Maybe you have a possibility make a another search on Internet?

Hi,

If my infos is good, the

Northbridge          Intel G41 rev. A3
Southbridge          Intel 82801GB (ICH7/R) rev. A1
LPCIO Model         ITE IT8718

Intel® G41 Express Chipset
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/mainstream-chipsets/g41-express-chipset.html

Intel® 82801GB I/O Controller
http://ark.intel.com/products/27679/Intel-82801GB-IO-Controller

I find do not support AHCI instruction.
Only the ICH7DH, ICH7R, ICH7-M, ICH7-M DH chip have AHCI support.
The ICH7 (Base) and ICH7-U (Ultra-mobile) chip do not support AHCI.

The ICH7 Base is called 82801GB (ICH7) Base

If you remove a heatsink of Southbridge (ICH7), you have a possibility to check a exact infos on ICH7 chip.
Normaly is simple. You clean a chip, add a thermal paste and replace a heatsink.
Is very simple normaly.
ICH7 82801GB chip:
http://www.usa-battery.net/images/chip%2011%20NH82801GB.jpg

Juste take a time for remove a heatsink. Do not scratch or alterate or broke a chip with tools.
But, Gigabyte not assume this operation.

Hi there!
I'm having the same problem. The problem stems from the BIOS chipset, not skin.

Gigabyte, notified are seeking a solution. Friends living in this issue, replace the CPU multiplier. 200 X 14 = 2.8 GHz Your CPU multiplier .. You do this in the BIOS 200 X 13 = 2.6 GHz, or 200 X 12 = 2.4 GHz modify the problem is solved. In addition, the multiplier 230 to 200 upgrade.

200 X 14 = 64 bit problem

200 X 13 = 64 bit no problem

200 X 12 = 64 bit no problem

225 X 12 or 230 X 13 try
