HPET error with ga-m57-sli-s4 motherboard Win7 32b
« on: January 01, 2012, 07:57:05 pm »
Hello gigabyte members, I am having a problem with hpet and windows 7, using my ga-m57-sli-s4 rev 2.0 motherboard. I receive this error in the application event viewer stating "Initialization of the High Precision Event Timer failed due to a BIOS configuration problem. The operating system will use another available platform timer in lieu of the High Precision Event Timer."I have done some research, and found out this is a pretty common problem with windows 7 and this motherboard. Most people suggested to upgrade to a newer bios version. However, I upgraded to the newest bios version and to no avail this error message still hasn't gone away. I also checked the bios to make sure that hpet is enabled and set to 32bit as well. Help is appreciated, thanks.

Hi braddey,

you say you are using the latest BIOS version which from the download site is FHL.

You may like to try this version which is FHm as it might help. (Download link below)

Thanks, I appreciate it it, normally I load the files onto a thumb drive to flash it. I'm not familiar with .fhl files, how would I flash my bios with this?

One other problem, everything is working fine, however on the boot screen it is detecting my ddr2 800 memory as ddr 2 677.
