WUSB600N wireless adapter and P55M-UD4
« on: November 04, 2009, 10:03:50 pm »
Greeting everyone.
I bought the P55M-UD4 about a month and a half ago and ever sinse then the Linksys wireless adapter IS NONE FUNCTIONAL. I have INSTALLED BOTH VISTA AND WINDOWS 7 on this motherboard and still no luck. I tried using the installation disk but does not detect it. When I was using this with my EVGA 680i A1, it worked flawlessly regardless of what OS I used and I am already missing it. Every time I inset it into the usb socket it say in the taskbar "INSTALLING DRIVER" and stays like that and won't install and the light on the wusb600n does not even flash and after 5 minutes it states that the driver did not install correctly.

When I install on my wifes laptop, it works immediately and the light flashes. THE USB SOCKETS WORK because I have my keyboard and mouse connected to them and so does MY WIFES IPOD and any other gadget. The internet does work WITH THE ETHERNET CABLES, but won't work with WUSB600N. I tried using windows 7 generic built in drivers, but to no avail. I tired using Gygabytes LATEST CHIPSET AND LAN DRIVERS FOR OCTOBER 26 and that is a no go.

This MATX motherboard is so buggy that i am thinking of gettin the ASUS version despite their premium price for the GENE. Also, for some strange reason my vantage or mark06 do not work and states com surrogate on crash.

All this is using WINDOWS 7 64bit and VISTA 64 bit and worked flawlessly on my old 680i and Yes, i ve done several reinstalls.                                    System specs i5 @3.5 corsairmemory 1600 @1400 EVGA GTX285 xfi creative extreme gamer PC POWER AND COOLING 750 silencer WD RAPTOR X and samsung f1

Mate I have the same issue with the UD3R version of the P55 chipset.

Works on all my other systems regardless of OS. 1 month down the line and I am still not able to use my wireless adapter. Hope you do not mind me getting on board your thread in the hope for a fix.

I don't use wireless at home myself usually but I have a Linksys 802.11G dongle about.
I may see if that works on my sytem if it has any Win7x64 drivers yet. If I can find it.....

Tried my WUSB54GC and it worked without a problem.
Used the drivers built into Win7x64. However, mine is a much older device.

I was looking at the WUSB600N as it's the only dual band N USB adapter Linksys do at the moment, on their site when you download a driver it gives an option for v1.0 or v2.0 of the hardware - do you both have the same version of the adapter?

Cisco WUSB600N download page
If you look on the adapter at the model number, if there is no version after the name then it's a v1.0

USB Netgear 2102 wireless adapter and P55-UD6.
Same think with my UD6,on the beggining.Any change in the BIOS (with Turbo mode-Enabled)-no connection.
Now,I disable Turbo mode and change my memory multi without the problem, but if I change  C1E ,C3/C6/C7 or EIST-no connection
It  is BIOS problem.
Now i running 3.4GHz with this setting-always connection.
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech. [Disabled]
CPU Cores Enabled (Note) [All]
CPU Multi-Threading (Note) [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) (Note) [Auto]
C3/C6/C7 State Support (Note) [Auto]
CPU Thermal Monitor (Note) [Auto]
CPU EIST Function (Note) [Auto]
Bi-Directional PROCHOT (Note) [Auto]
Virtualization Technology (Note) [Enabled]
Also wake up from screen saver-all USB ( mouse and keyboard stuck)

Yeah I agree with you that it is a bios problem. I can run the adaptor on other P55 platforms. ASUS and EVGA boards no problem it is only on this one Gigabyte mobo that I am having an issue. Latest bios before anyone suggests that as a fix.  ;D

I'm using an i5-750, GA-P55-UD4, 2x2GB G.Skill.
Was using the onboard USB header that's connected to my case front.
Using BIOS F3h at the moment I think.

Plus, it's going to be a completely different chipset than yours as mines a much older non-N adapter.

That same old adapter that you mentioned earlier in the post, I also have that one as an extra adapter incase . Unfortunately, even that one the not work. I am assuming that it is a BIOS problem. If my keyboard and mouse work without any problems; heck even my wifes ipod works and can even access the drive within the ipod, then why can't my WUSN600N access any wireless connection? That is a bummer and hope that Gigabyte is reading these forums or that the moderators who support Gigabyte can address this to them. If I can't get a fix, I might look into the Asus Gene, but I hope not.

Does anybody run any benchmarks (Vantage or 3dmark06) on this platform (i5 and P55M, P55-UD4)?
