I think I have found the permanent solution for freezing problems.

Before, I have checked all your solutions without success. My configuration is: Core i5 3570k (no OC), AMD HD7850 2 GB, 2x 4 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz (GoodRAM), SoundBlaster X-fi Platinum, BIOS F18.

The freezing effect on my configuration: random, sometimes once per day, sometimes 1 per hour, screen is frozen, glitchy sound in speakers.

Solution for me:  BIOS UEFI Settings, PEG Gen3 Slot Configuration- change from auto to PEG v3 (you should adjust it same as your graphic card is)....
Yeah, that's tricky setting caused all that freezing problems. I hope that Gigabyte Support will read it and change the default setting for this to safe PEG v1 or just fix auto option.

I know what a pain in the ass was that problem, so after discovering this I have decided to register an account here and share this with you guys.

My perm solution to this problem was to buy an ASRock Z77 Pro 4 board, rock solid with all the same hardware.

Used to always recommend and buy Gigabyte, no longer, emailed support and they were not willing to admit or assist in any way.

Think may have found the problem to the freezing in bios and unable to overclock past 4.4 on GA-Z77-UD3 as Ive tried 2 sets of 2x4 corsair memory with no luck,so I thought of taking out my GSKILL 4x2 1600 memory and try them out and so for no lockups in bios and able to run memory at their 1600 speed with a 4.5 Ghz on cpu and so for all is good and it past twice IBT on max setting for 10 runs each time ,were as with the other module(corsair) it would fail each time within a short time of running IBT.so Ime thinking the issues must come from running modules of 4Gb on the system.maybe if some of you have modules of 2Gb of memory to try them out on these motherboards as I know its a big problem for  the gigabyte Z77 motherboards.
will keep testing to see if things go allwright and post.

The solution you mentioned works like a charm for my config:

cpu: intel core i3-3225
mobo: gigabyte ga-z77-d3h (rev 1.0), bios: f13
ddr3: geil evo two 2x4 gb, 1866 mhz
hdd: seagate 1.5 tb, 7200 rpm
vc: asus radeon hd 5770, 1 gb

Thanks a lot for your advice,  i was becoming very desperate in solving this annoying problem

RAM 2x4Gb Hynix 1333
CPU 3570K
PSU 600
Video Gigabyte 660

I have a Z77X-D3H, I've been following the "solutions" here, it had diminished the lock-ups from "often" to "not as often", but I still can't help flaming at Gigabyte. People should hit these guys where it hurts, in their pockets, maybe then they'll learn a lesson. Flaming aside - are there any hopes for gigabyte ever solving this issue or should I boycott them next time I get a new motherboard?

Turn off the Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x) inside BIOS.
Let us know if it works for you.

I have the same issue for a Z97X UDH3. Seems to be solved by disabling C3 and C6 as suggested above.
Really Gigabyte, you keep on copying the same mistakes across your motherboards without fixing them?

I'm having the same issues as all of you. About to try above settings...such a shame.
