Title: Z77X-UD3H - keyboard and mouse issues on boot
Post by: The_Assimilator on December 22, 2012, 12:54:59 pm
I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and G400 mouse that are plugged into the front USB 2.0 ports of my case, which in turn are connected to one of the board's USB 2.0 headers. I also have a 10-port (externally powered) USB 2.0 hub that's connected to one of the rear USB 3.0 ports.

If I boot up the PC with the hub connected, the keyboard and mouse don't come on until I get to Windows (hence I cannot enter the BIOS, RAID setup, etc.). However as soon as I unplug power from the hub, the KB and mouse power up almost as soon as the PC boots. This happens with every BIOS version I've tested (F13 through F19 beta).

It doesn't matter whether I plug the hub into the Intel or VIA USB 3.0 ports, the symptoms are the same. As soon as I kill power to the hub, the KB and mouse receive power.

I have rev 1.0 of this board and was wondering if anyone with the same revision has these issues? If so have you managed to fix them? And anyone with a rev 1.1 board, have you had a better/worse experience than me?

BTW, before anyone tells me to use a PS2 keyboard for configuring the BIOS: this is 2012. The last PC I built in 2007 never had a single problem with this keyboard and mouse. Having problems with USB peripherals in 2012 signifies that Gigabyte needs to get their s**t sorted fast, or get out of the game.

For some reason I'm thinking the two USB ports under the RJ-45 jack are the ones for use pre-OS. Assuming you're not connected to those already, what happens if you switch to them and try?

Sistem: I7 2600k , Z77X-UD3H ( F18 bios ), 16 gb ram kingston hyperx genesis (4x4) , ssd kingston, vga HD 7870 , psu corsair 650w etc

I got the same problem with  Z77X-UD3H and Logitech G15 kb  - Random doesn't  boot   (mouse and kb are connected on 2 usb ports near gb-lan), i even use a extension of 2 usb ports connected internally  for the rest of the equipments , printer/webcam.
Sometimes i put it to sleep , and when i try to get it out of sleep  , display of kb is flashing   ,   i don't see anything on monitor then is stops - i turn it on around 4-5 sec then it stops again ; i do this 5-6 times and then is works - this is clearly a USB problem ....

Usb 3.0 from Via is a real mess / also those of intel  ...

Before this upgrade i didn't have any of this problems .... this sucks .

I don't want to be rude , but  someone from Gigabyte Team will at least will take in consideration to test this type of mobo with a logitech G15 KB rev 2 ?
I have this mainboard  for over 6 months , and this "small problem" is killing me ...
Thanks in advance !
