Title: Problem entering BIOS on Z87-UD3H
Post by: lakiozoon on September 22, 2013, 10:59:47 am
After selecting ultra fast boot option, my comp boots so fast i cant get into bios anymore.
I've tried spamming F2 / Del like mad numerous times with no result.

Is there a way to enter bios without having to clear cmos?

P.S. I've noticed my keyboard isn't powered until my windows 8 starts :/

Try using an older ps2 keyboard to get to bios. I've had to do this myself.
Sounds like the usb ports aren't powered until after boot.

It would be nice to have some kind of warning before activating ultra fast booting, since many of us don't have old ps2 keyboards nearby.

Thanks for the reply.
Regards!

Hi All,

Rather than start a new thread for the same problem I thought I would post here, hope the OP doesn't mind.

I have the GA-Z87X-OC Force and I have enabled ultra fast boot and need to get into the BIOS.

Are there any alternatives to the above (using PS2 keyboard) at all?

Mark

I think the reason TFisher said that was some times the MB might not pickup the USB one at first.

Plus what I do is watch the little lights on the keyboard. When they blink I start hitting the del key.

One other thing I still use Ps2 keyboards on my all computers.

Thanks for the reply.

I have 5 keyboards here all with usb! ~Not through choice but every keyboard I have bought in the last probably 4/5 years has come with a usb connection as standard.

I'll go and buy a usb to ps2 converter and try it that way.

The only other way I can think of is to use  clear cmos button.

For some reason, plugging usb keyboard into ps2 slot via adapter doesnt work for me.
I dont even get power on my Caps lock/scroll lock/num lock leds.

I recently solved a problem of the same nature. I had mine on fastboot (UD3H board). My problem was all something to do with my stupidity lol. I could not access BIOS but my OS would act like everything was fine, it was all due to my graphics card. Thats 1 possiblility. Reseat the card or try an older driver. My problem was a black screen when getting into BIOS. I lol'd myself when i had seen that i had put my TV hookup into my onboard graphics instead of my PCI card (ex: GTX Whatever) ahhhhh situational awarness. Anyway the only other way I see is to reset back to factory settings on the board itself. All you would have to do is reload that profile later on if you have it saved. You should see the splash screen GIGABYTE then just go back in and do your thang. What code is your rig producing?

You could also try booting up from backup BIOS?
