Title: 290 vs. 290 OC edition
Post by: matil on April 16, 2014, 11:03:24 pm
Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying a Gigabyte 290 Card and I can't find any review for the non OC version.
I was wondering if I can buy the non OC version and make it run like an overclocked OC version.

btw, currently my 2 options are Gigabyte 290 (947 Core) or ASUS 290 DirectCU II OC (1040 Core).

Thanks

Hey mate,

I purchased 2 x R9 290's and I've had nothing but trouble with them. Terrible FPS in games, having to set to low to get anything playable, yellow flickering throughout my gameplay that I can't fix. I've tried enabling vsync and also turning vertical refresh on always didn't seem to make a difference. I've tried different types of drivers and noone seems to be able to give me an answer that helps.

I'd suggest steer clear.
