Title: Updating GEFORCE driver question
Post by: Mikem9 on May 20, 2016, 04:56:15 pm
Hi all,

Laptop: P55 v5
OS: Win 10 64bit
GPU: 970m
CPU: 6700 skylake

This issue might be happening with any other gaming laptop though with the purchase of this laptop being purely for gaming, I'm finding it difficult to move on from it. The P55 has a 970m installed, and whilst it's great for older games, for newer games (doom etc - frames should be faster, loading the game takes 10+ minutes, get in to any action and the computer bluescreens), there are major issues with the gfx driver that's presented on the gigabyte website (359.33)... To say the least, it's pretty damn outdated.

Tried updating to any driver pulled directly from Nvidia's website and when installing I simply get an error noting that the gfx driver doesn't support the card installed and won't let me install the driver. It's a 970m, the latest drivers on the site support this card, and it won't install.

I've hit gigabyte up about the issue though they're taking their time to respond -

My hunch is that like many other laptop manufactures, only the manufacturer specific modified drivers will work for each laptop though I'm hitting this forum up to see if there's any work around what so ever. Any idea's guys?

I have a P35X v4 laptop with a GTX 980M and I'm currently on 365.19. I think there have been atleast 2 driver updates since I've been on this driver, but none of them work. It's really aggravating. What's the point of spending this much money on a laptop if I can't even play games with it?
I'm hoping they'll release new drivers soon.
