Hi guys,
I am new here and I have been having a very frustrating problem with my new system I got 2 weeks ago.
Here are the specs for my system:
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Intel i7 950
GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2 (bios ver FB)
Kingston 1066 (4 x 2gb) DDR3
Casecom 750w power supply
ASUS ENGTX275
Western Digital 500GB Caviar HDD
Since day one, I have been having this weird boot looping issue after powering down the system for an extended period of time (say minimum 3 hours)
The system would power up, give one beep like it normally would before the POST screen, except nothings shows up. It automatically powers down, powers up again, and so on.
The only way to get it to boot is to turn off the power button at the PSU, wait for the blue LED on the MOBO to turn off, then power the PSU back up again. Then I will have no problems getting to Windows and using the system for as long as I like. And I do not OC my system in anyway.
So far, I've tried Swapping RAMs, clearing CMOS, reinstalling Windows 7 and even try plugging the system to another power outlet.
No luck fixing this issue. As far as I can tell, it is not affecting my productivity, but I would like for my system to work as it should without me bending over every morning or night to reset the PSU power button.
I've tried contacting gigabyte, no reply. Not surprising there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hopefully we wil be able to help you out here.
The first thing I would recommend that you try (after all the other things you've already done) is to disable the power saving settings in the BIOS and see if that makes any difference. They do tend to cause quite a lot of problems in one way or another. Try disabling C1E, C3 etc.

Hi thanks for the advice, but it has not worked. I've also tried disabling CPU EIST function. No luck as well.
What are the chances of it being a MOBO defect at this stage?
I've read somewhere that ppl have managed to fix this issue with a bios upgrade to the current FC beta built?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Yes I would advise a BIOS update if there is one available as this is the sort of problem they aim to fix. I don't know what is the latest but try checking on TweakTown Forums under the Gigabyte section and see what they have. Make sure that you use QFlash for the update.

Have you tried a different power supply?

this is a common problem with this bios
also the newer bios's are of no use either
i would try the older FA bios but you may have memory missing issues then

Hi jdvoracek,
I've tried 2 other psus, same wattage and I am still getting the boot loop problem.
Seeing that it is not really causing any real problems for me, I might just hang on and wait for a BIOS update from gigabyte before proceeding.
I really don't want to go back to the older FA bios and potentially get the missing RAM issues.
Thanks for your help guys. I will definitely post again if I manage to solve this problem.
At least for now I don't have to RMA the board and not be able to game for a bit.

I think from the other posts we have had on this subject that it is a BIOS issue and that it will be sorted by an update, I just don't understand why it is taking so long. ::)

Are you setting the ram voltage to spec?
And have you tried setting your own memory multiplier, and uncore multiplier (Twice memory multi)?
Then set your own QPI/Vtt voltage, to 1.25-1.375V, it may need more or less depending on your CPU

I would just like to report back that the latest FC bios revision has fixed this problem.
