Hello,
I am just about to perform a clean installaition of windows 7 and need to know the correct settings for the integrated peripherals in the BIOS of a p35-ds3p.
As I understand it so far I have the relevant AHCI options in BIOS set as folows
sata raid/ahci mode set to [ahci] (default is disabled)
sata port0-3 native mode set to [enabled] (default is disabled) - not sure about this one?
onboard sata/ide device set to [enabled] (default enabled) - not sure about this one?
Onboard sata/ide ctrl mode set to [enabled] (default is ide)
Can anyone please correct or confirm tis configuration.
Thanks.

Yes correct.
-
Jjust spotted my error
Onboard sata/ide ctrl mode set to [enabled] (default is ide)
it should read;
Onboard sata/ide ctrl mode set to [AHCI] (default is ide)
I am sure you know what I meant, but would you mind confirming this.
Thanks.

Yes I did understand and to be fair I should have mentioned this at the time. :-[

Thank you for your quick reply. I have spent all day looking for this answer on the internet, but to no avail, but nothing specific enough to go on.
Anyway. thanks again. now its down to installing.

No problem and I am sure it will go fine but you know where we are if you do hit any snags. ;)

Hello. Can I use this settings (below) in BIOS Integrated Peripherals? I install my Windows 7 64 bit sp1, before 5 months and before install, set sata raid/ahci mode to [ahci]. But can I change other three settings like this:
sata port0-3 native mode set to [enabled] (default is disabled)
onboard sata/ide device set to [enabled] (default enabled)
onboard sata/ide ctrl mode set to [ahci] (default is ide)
Hard disk - Hitachi HDP725032GLA360. Motherboard - P35 - DS3R Rev.2.0. BIOS version - f13.
Thank you and sorry for my terrible engilsh.

For the non-Intel controller, it depends what you are attaching to it.
If you are attaching hard disks, set to AHCI for NCQ and hot-plugging. If you are attaching optical drives, leave to IDE since those features won't be used anyway and spare yourself the extra POST time the controller adds to figure that out.

Hi
If you are referring to your hard drive then yes they should be fine.
-
I can't understand completely. Sorry. :(
My configuration:
Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Video - 8800gt 512mb
RAM - 2x1gb Super T cl5 ddr2 800mhz and 2x1gb Kingston ddr2 800mhz
Hard disk - Hitachi HDP725032GLA360
Motherboard - P35 - DS3R Rev.2.0. BIOS version - f13.
DVD - ASUS DRW-2014L1T ATA Device
I will not attach anything. How should to configure settings in Bios menu - Integrated Peripherals?
-
For the controller (Intel) you are plugging your hard disk into: AHCI or RAID.
For the other controller (JMicron or Marvell), plug in your DVD drive and set to IDE.
-
Integrated Peripherals
Intel Controller (Yellow Ports)
SATA RAID/AHCI Mode (Intel ICH10R Southbridge) ............. AHCI
SATA Port0-3 Native Mode ................................... Enabled (or Disabled, both will work)
Connect your hard drive with operating system to the first yellow port SATAII_0 (Against the PCB). Then connect your CD/DVD drive on the last Intel Yellow port SATA_5 against the PCB
As for the settings you mention, you can disable those if you are not using them, which it doesn't look like you need them if you only have 1 hard drive and one CD/DVD drive
Gigabyte/J.Micron Controller (Purple Ports)
Onboard SATA/IDE Device (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ............. Disabled (Nothing connected to purple ports, so no need to enable
Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode (GIGABYTE SATA2 Chip) ........... IDE/AHCI/RAID = doesn't matter, disabled above

Lsdmeasap, my HDD is connected in SATAII_0. DVD-RW is connected in SATAII_1. Any difference between SATAII_1 and SATAII_5? Thank you.
-
Yes, there is a difference, you should move your DVD drive to SATAII_4 or 5
-
hey Lsdmeasap,
and what settings should i use and where to place if i have 2HDD and dvd rom? should i place 2nd hard into purple slot? or just place in sataII_1
