Title: GIGABYTE Recommends BIOS Update on Certain X79 Models
Post by: runn3R on January 03, 2012, 08:52:33 am
Hi All

It has come to our attention that certain X79 Series Motherboards (GA-X79-UD3, GA-X79-UD5, GA-X79-UD7, and G1.Assassin 2) may malfunction due to excess heat when performing Extreme Overclocking beyond the board’s limit. To address this issue and to ensure our product is being used as intended, we recommend existing X79 users to visit GIGABYTE’s official website to download and update their X79 series BIOS. The X79 series motherboards not named above are outside the scope of this statement and not applicable.

The latest X79 Series Motherboards BIOS update can be found below:

GA-X79-UD3 – Please update to BIOS F7 (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4050#bios)

GA-X79-UD5 – Please update to BIOS F7 (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4049#bios)

GA-X79-UD7 – Please update to BIOS F7 (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4047#bios)

G1.Assassin 2 – Please update to BIOS F7 (http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4046#bios)

The guides for updating BIOS in X79 motherboards can be found at our Official Forum (http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/upload/files/Q-Flash%20guide%20in%20UEFI%20DualBIOS%20for%20X79%20series.pdf) and Blog (http://gigabytedaily.blogspot.com/2011/12/updating-bios-using-gigabyte-q-flash.html)

Hi runn3R,  ;)

me too, I look for a GA-X79-UD5. Finaly I do not take a 1155 socket plateform.

Infos new bios : F10   3.37 MB   2012/03/23      Improve compatibility
for GA-X79-UD3, GA-X79-UD5,

F10   3.38 MB   2012/02/22     Update CPU Microcode (improve system stability)
for GA-X79-UD7 (Before only bios F9)

F10   3.60 MB   2012/03/23      Improve compatibility
for G1.Assassin 2

About original post ( OP) I understand, it's not a hardware problem, a simple BIOS update - F7 - fixes the problem of VRM.

Cool.

If you want an answer from runn3R directly I would advise that you PM him otherwise it might be a long time until he ever notices this post.

Thank you Dark Mantis.  ;)

In fact, I just wanted to give additional information, about bios.

I hope this is not disturbing on this topic.

If it is regarding the boards BIOS I guess that is relevant to the thread.
