Z68X-UD3-B3 BIOS upgrade question and USB3 problem
« on: January 05, 2013, 06:58:17 pm »
Hello!

I would like to know, if i am using motherboard RAID and wanting to upgrade to new U1e UEFI BIOS, do i have to backup the RAID data? Does the BIOS upgrade to UEFI affect RAID?
Why i am asking this is because i cannot get USB3 working. I have tried the lastest Etron drivers, but when i start my PC, first it recognize USB3 device, but it drops connection and then doesnt find it.

Z68X-UD3-B3 with F13 BIOS
Windows 7 X64 ultimate

I have had problems with some boards when updating bios  because when the bios defaults are loaded the SATA ports will be set to AHCI or IDE and also USB keyboard support may also been turned off.
So frantically hitting DEL does not get you into bios and then the machine will try and boot and then corrupt the raid.
If the data is important the safe option is to backup-however if you have PS2 keyboard you should be able to get into
the bios, check your raid (CTRL+I maybe?) options  and switch the SATA ports to RAID before anything nasty happens.

Feeling lucky?

Hope this helps......
