MA770T-UD3P won't boot, unresponsive keyboard?

Ok, so this is my first pc build and when I start up the computer the splash screen appears and all but if i don't press tab fast enough or at a certain time it will just hang there. I can't boot from other devices or even go into the bios. So when i hit tab to post screen it works but most likely it will always go to a blue screen saying "CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR - DEFAULT LOADED". I read somewhere you can take the battery out, or even short the pins on the board, i've tried... it will then go to just the post screen (and freeze) or will end up going back to the cmos screen (forgot to say, on this screen i still can't press anything keyboard is unresponsive even with a ps/2 keyboard)

Specs:
2400 xt 256 MB PCI E Card
Hyper 212 plus cpu fan
Phenom II 2 B59 Processor (565 c3)
PNY 4 gb ram
EP-650-TD1 (650W)
TOSHIBA MK256GSX ATA (not really relevant as of now)

don't know what to do at this point :(
