GA-H97-D3H with Crucial CT128M550SSD4 in the M.2 socket not always starting

I have installed in the M.2 socket a Crucial-CT128M the full part number is CT128M550SSD4. This is a SSD recommended on the Gagabyte site for the GA-H97-D3H. I have installed Windows 7 on this Crucial-CT128M SSD.  When the PC is on but has not been used for a few hours, it goes into hibernation and when woken with keystroke or mouse the motherboard does not boot from the M.2 socket SSD but instead looks at SATA 0,1,2 or 3 and tries to boot from an attached HD that does not have any operating system installed.  Each time this happens, I have to disconnect the HD and then the motherboard will boot from the M.2 socket.  Once that is done, the PC may be powered down and the HD re-connected.  Is this a problem with the BIOS?  Version F5 is installed.

Not really SSD drives of any sort M2 or sata are not supposed to go into hibernation. Is one of the tweaks you do to windows 7 for a SSD.  If I put mine into hibernation it pretty much does the same thing for my Sata3 SSD.

autotech, thanks for the idea.  Although I don't know if changing Win 7 Power Options to never turn off the Hard Disk will act on the SSD in the M.2 socket, I've changed it to "never" to see what happens.

I've set the option to Never turn off the Hard Disk (Power Options; Advanced settings; Hard Disk; Turn of Never).  Also “Hibernate after” is “Never”.

With these settings, there is some sort of pattern emerging in regard to the length of time in “Sleep” and if the PC will wake up or not.

For experimental purposes, I’ve set “Sleep After” to one minute.  Once the PC has gone to sleep, I’ve noted that for sleep times less than two hours, the PC will wake correctly.  If I wait above 2 hours before waking the PC then it is likely to fail to successfully come out of sleep. If I wait for 3 hours or above, it always fails to come out of sleep.  When it fails to come out of sleep then initially the log on screen is shown but during the time I type a password, then an error message is displayed.  If no applications were open before sleep, then the error message is symerr.exe, otherwise the error message is about Chrome or Norton (nis.exe).
Following the Windows error message, the PC then shows a text screen : Windows boot manager; Windows failed to start; status 0xc000000e; The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
I then switch off the PC using the front panel button and then remove the mains supply.  I then switch the mains back on and then press the front panel button, the PC then starts correctly with the log-on screen.

I am coming to the conclusion that Crucial-CT128M part number CT128M550SSD4 and the Gigabyte motherboard GA-H97-D3H are for some reason incompatible and I should not use the M.2 socket for the OS.

:) Good news.  Gigabyte have sent me an updated development BIOS (F6d) and I've allowed the PC to sleep over 3 hours on four times and there have been no failures on wakeup.  One thing I don't understand is, under the BIOS Features tab, there is a Boot Option Priorities list, the SSD no longer appears there, only the DVD drive and the WD HDD (the WD HDD not contaiing the operating system, only data).
