I'm glad I found this post. I never could find warranty information on the main website. Perhaps someone who knows the webmaster of the website could persuade him to publish it somewhere. That way everyone would know and perhaps it would be good for Gigabytes business aswell.

According to Gigabyte, the warranty on all boards begins from the date of manufacture, not the date that you purchased it!  This is absurd.

palavering, absurd or not absurd but it's clearly written at USA's website:

Warranty Effective On Date of Manufacture

GIGABYTE determines warranty based on the manufacture date. The manufacture date can be verified by the serial number found on the product.

What is SN of your motherboard?
If you are from UK / IRL we will try to help you if your MB has more than 3 years from manufacturing date but less than 3 years from purchase date (proof of purchase will be required).

Hi runn3R,

I've emailed the tech support people and they've told me my board is over 3 years manufacture but i bought it in december 07 therefore i have a good 4 months left for the 3 years after purchase.

SN-  SN0727000629, bought 27/12/07 from overclockers.co.uk

setup - Intel Q6600 @ stock
Gigabyte P35-DS3R rev1.0 bios F12
4Gb (1Gbx4) Geil DDR2 Memory
Nvidia 8800GT

Quick summary of problems-

- pressing the power button once does nothing
- continuously pressing the power button eventually turns the system on (if lucky)
- once the system is on, its stable and can be powered off and on easily, unless left for longer than roughly 5 mins
- all components have been tested in other systems and different components have been tried in this motherboard.

The email from tech support-

Dear Chris,

Sorry, This product is over 3 year  out of warranty, no compoants for repair.

Regards.

Returns Dept.

Thanks for your help,

Chris

Chris it might be a good idea to PM runn3R on this forum as he is busy and doesn't get a chance to read all the posts. Just send him a PM asking him to read your post.

Ok thanks, i've sent runn3R a PM now. What do you reckon the likelihood of me getting it repaired is? It's pretty harsh how they say from manufacture not purchase!

All I can say is that runn3R is a fair man and if he can help he will, but obviously his hands are tied by company policy so don't expect miracles.

Hi chrishill86

Thanks for your PM. I arranged it as follows: you need to contact under: returns@gbt-tech.co.uk shortly describing your story and including scanned/photographed proof of purchase (invoice / receipt). This should be accepted.
