Does anyone's 980/970 fan speed ramp up on start up until they get into windows? Also noticed that when I shut down the computer like a second before it switches off the fans ramp up again.

the card is awesome so far :D

My 980 g1 Gaming does exactly the same.
When I boot up, it sounds like the fans are at full speed, until the bios posts.
Then when I shut down, the split second before the power is switched off they do the same.

I had the 970 G1 gaming before getting the 980 and that didn't behave like this.

It's a known issue and seems like Gigabyte fixed the issue with F51 BIOS for Hynix version.
The problem is, flashing utility will not flash to F51, spitting out errors.
It's frustrating that fix is right in front of me, but I cannot flash it. I followed the guide, but wouldn't work. I tried to open up a ticket but the website wouldn't let me.

It's driving me nuts!

Yea it is before and after the windows drivers kicks in/off it behaves like that. So this not an issue.
