Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 does not startup

Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 does not startup
« on: February 28, 2015, 04:49:18 pm »
Disclaimer: Tried to find it in FAQ - no luck.
Tried to submit a case to Gigabyte support - their site is full of bugs couldn't make it.

Guys or Gigabytes representatives please help to investigate or resolve the issue with the initial bootup.
When I press the power button it takes less than 1 second for the PC to shut down. I hear no beeps to BIOS post or  smth like that. Looks like power issue, but PSU is working and is of good quality Chieftec CFT750-14C

See the video for more info:

Important: PSU is working and has enough power(750W).

By any chance do you have the power & reset plug switch around?

I really doubt so. I extracted the motherboard pulled off everything and identified that some pins on the socket are bent. So I bent them back using a toothpick, now they barely differ from others. And their ends are aligned in the grid with others.

Also I power it on(the MB not socket) with a knife by touching the distinctly visible power pins. And I cleared CMOS many times.

Still nothing.

When I start MB with CPU loosely laying on a socket - it seems to be starting fine as well as w/o CPU.(actually it starts for couple seconds and them turns off - I don't have a beeper, it also complicates the thing)

Once I secure the socket lock - it starts for a half of the second, like on a vid. It's a bummer that I don't have a post message board. Will try to bring it to my workplace to see the error code...

I read that somebody else was having the same problem. He loosen the heatsink just a little and that took care of the problem. Now I don't know if that will help.
