Z68X-UD3-B3 Boots hdmi first on boot
« on: July 30, 2015, 11:08:40 pm »
Hi,

Not sure if it's motherboard or the graphics card but I have a GTX 570 card and among the connections i use are HDMI and DP. the DP is for my monitor (which doesn't support HDMI) and the HDMI is used for my TV.
For some reason 9 out of 10 times on boot the active display is set to HDMI (if the cable is connected) and that means i don't see anything (until an OS boots) unless my tv is on or i disconnect the cable.

Does anyone know how to change the priority to make it only show the DP on boot or something of that sort?

Hi,
Had a few questions.  Which slot is the card installed in?
Under BIOS Settings, What is set for Init Display First?
Have you tried different drivers for the vid card?
A different BIOS rev?
A different DP cable?

It's in the PCI-E (which is the default for external cards)
I've tried to play with the first display in bios it didn't change anything it used to be on auto now it's on PCI-E one.
I'm always using the latest driver so i change drivers every month or so.
i'm using the latest bios for my motherboard it's the UEFI one.
Actually i used to have a different cable and the display stopped working so i replaced it one year ago or so.

Side note i think it's the card itself it also has a bios right?

OK the way a monitor or TV works. Is it will always look for the VGA, DVI, DP or HDMI in that order. I had the same problem when I had the HDMI cable connected, it would do the same thing.

I work on a lot of computer and to be able to see the Bios screen you have to have it connected to the VGA or DVI. Sorry you can't really change. I have mine connected DVI to HDMI.

Did some research on this and you are basically screwed. The only thing I could say leave the TV off till after the boot up sorry.
