Gigabyte HD5970 vid card ?
« on: March 29, 2010, 04:36:21 pm »
It's a pretty good price (I'm in Canada), so I'm stuck with local suppliers, when compared to "Sapphire"..., also locally, and Gigabyte does make good quality pcb's, so I was wondering if anyone else has/owns any opinions on this ?
Or, as I usually do, wait for the prices to go down.;0

I don't think prices will go down a lot.

5970 is still the best performance graphics card, despite GTX 480 release, and will be for a large portion of this year I suspect.

I'd go for it. :)

The HD5970 is the best performing card at the moment, and doesn't cost too much over a GTX480. Otherwise the HD5870 should do fine in any game. I would try and wait for the 4GB (2GB per GPU) version of it though as that seems to be the bottleneck at very high resolutions, if you game at 1920x1200 with full AA/AF or higher...
