GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 w/ Intel 750 NVMe SSD - BIOS Setting Issue

Hey folks,

I've been poking around the internet trying to find a solution to my problem and figured I'd add a post here as well. I recently built a Skylake (i7-6700k) PC with the Intel 750 PCIe NVMe drive as my boot drive. I managed to get the PC to recognize the drive and install Windows10 with no real difficulty.

However, the issue I'm having is my PC always wants to boot to BIOS first instead of just booting directly to Windows 10. I posted a similar thread on the Intel site and they mentioned that the drive likely isn't the problem and instead it may be a BIOS issue.

I've upgraded to version 4F and I set up the BIOS per the guide but the problem persists. Does anyone out there have this board or at least one in the same family who is also using the Intel drive as their boot drive and wouldn't mind sharing what their BIOS settings are? Or perhaps have some other things I should try first?

I've read that the CMOS battery could also be an explanation. I have no volt meter but I did purchase some batteries which I'll try this evening.

Z170x Gaming 1....  His issue was drive unable to resume from S3 without dropping off or becoming unresponsive.  He's one of the few I am aware of who is running or tried to run a Intel 750NVMe and windows 10.  In the end he returned the drive to Newegg.  There was another guy posting as well, but I'm not sure of his outcome with the drive.

Thanks Shadowsport. I sent him a message on this forum and the Intel forum where he also posted a similar topic to see if he could shed some light onto the problems I'm having while I wait to hear back from Gigabyte or others on this forum.

I think I suffer from the same problem as him too but the boot issue I'm having is a larger issue. The sleep mode thing I handled by just turning power management off so the drive doesn't go to sleep. While not ideal, it's suitable for me because my PC is only on when I'm present. Intel also seems aware of his issue.

Updating to the beta drivers resolved the problem I was having with booting to BIOS first. Thanks for the help all!

Cool.  Intel jumped on this quick.  I think enough people complained that they prioritized a fix.  Those drives aren't cheap.
