Hello Gigabyter's :). I am encountering a very strange issue. First of all i want to ask if there is any difference between
GA-Z170X-Gaming 7-EU and the GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 boards. But this is not the problem here..let me try to share my experience.

I am a fan of GA...i am using your boards for over 7 years and they never fail me...until this board...I also want if it is possible a technician from GA to test the same environment as i will describe because is possible to prevent an anarchy on returning board to retailers. I just  RMA the second board as in title because this bizzare issue +some secondary faults.

  My components:
- I7 6700k

- GA-Z170X-Gaming 7-EU

-Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 16GB Kit 3000Mhz CL15  CMD16GX4M4B3000C15

- Gigabyte g1 windforce gtx980TI

-Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 PCI Express MZHPV256HDGL

-1TB SEAGATE ST1000LM014 HYBRID

-480GB SanDisk SDSSDHII-480G

-Corsair ax1200i
-nxzt kraken x61
nzxt noctis

The problem is on sata and m2 ports.
-So if i use the m2 ssd on the m2 port 0 (the one under the pci exprees slot) then sata 0/1/2/3 works and sata 4/5 dont work (not in bios and not in os)
           - If i use the m2 port 1 then sata 0/1/2/3 DONT work and sata 4/5 works.

I have tried a lot of options in bios but apparently nothing works. I have rma the first board based on this reason plus that the usb 3.0 internal conectors was loosing signal when tryng to copy something using the case usb...but i also tested with a back case adaptor.
The second board i have just rma today is on same reason plus that the fan cpu socket didint work..and i was almost make a heart atack when i saw my cpu in bios having 80 C.

Now the retailer was nice and understood the problems . I think the sata thing is because of the bios (on the first board i tried F4 and the latest bios) but it is possible that the retailer got a "bad" batch? .. I mean bad things can happen right?

when you use a m2 slot it will disable the sata ports that are on the same bus. Has been that wat since m2 slots came out. If you download and read manual it will inform you of this.

It's covered in page 32 on the manual ... I have a very similar setup, put the SM951 in the "H" M.2 slot and then you still have 5 out of the 6 SATA slots active. In my current setup I have my SM951 in the H M.2 slot and then 3 SSDs and on HDD in Sata ports 0-3 and DVD and Blu-Ray drive hanging off the Marvel controller all playing nicely at the moment :-)

Damm..i feel a little stupid :) ...well anyway i had aditional problems with both mobo...1 was loosing signal thru usb 3.0 internal connections and the second the cpu fan wasint working.

Now i have another issue.....im tryng to install windows 7...in the bios the settings are Other O/S  and is asking me for the drivers.....i was get the driver...but when windows finish to load the driver is telling me that cant be used and is out of date...lol
