Hi all first post here on the Gigabyte forum
There seems to be a lack of response from users and quiet a few complaints regarding there new just received laptops
I am/was seriously thinking of purchasing the ( Gigabyte P37X V5 17.3" 4k/UHD NVIDIA GTX 980M Gaming Laptop )

scan.co.uk has it at £1849.99  but seeing the lack of response here on this forum to other laptop user problems it is putting me right of.
I can get a far better configuration from PC.Specialists, without the 4k/17"screen, and more for my monies.
I was wanting the 4k screen as I do a lot of video/photography

after coming to this Forum it gets a bit depressing when you see other new users having problems and then they,
get no response form Gigabyte.
what do others thing of the after sales service from Gigabyte,
I myself think they have just lost a sale.

Hi Tom

My first time here as well and like you a bit disappointed with the level of support. Tried the main site, not good there either. I have a P37x and apart from a couple of niggles, which is why I was here, I am extremely pleased with it. The screen is the best I have ever used. My build has a SSd and a normal hard drive and is fast to boot up etc. I chose it mainly for the cooling ability which has lived up to expectations although I would like more control rather than the very basic 'tweaks' offered.
One of my niggles is the very useful Smart Update. Well it would be useful if it didn't take an age to update one item. I have always on 100mb broadband. Updating the intel graphics card this morning was over an hour. Updates outside of the SM system are super fast so it's a real bug bear. Anyway despite that I would recommend you buy it, when I researched it ticked the buttons I needed most, screen, graphics and cooling.

I SCANned the Internet & after much research bought this beauty yesterday, arrived today. I did buy an MSI GT72S 6QF 17.3" panel a few months ago coz it had a really good spec, except too many USB ports & HDMI v1.4 (no external 4K monitor support) but I ended up with the Red Dragon version, could have lived with that but ... the standard HD 1980x1020 panel was rubbish, looked washed out. There was no option for a UHD version from my local MSI rep, only from OC, but out of stock (luckily) The GPU failed on day one, picture breaking up & pixelated so it went back for a full refund. So I bought the GB P37x V5 CF1 from SCAN. I nearly bought it from OC but their advertised specs didn't even match Gigs web site, (which they had a link to) e.g. USB 2.0 x2, USB 3.0 x2, no mention of USB 3.1 ! and £1k more expensive then SCAN. Commented on the OC forum and reply was something like 'there are many configurations for this Laptop' So I've asked GB if there was such an earlier model with a lower spec, no response yet. I was dubious about buying this Laptop having read review complaints about overheating and fan noise but so far so good. Watch this space..

Sorry for the late response .. So I also bought the exact same MSI Laptop despite lack of HDMI 2.0 (1.2, future upgrades not possible) low res screen & too many USB ports but also ended up with an ugly red dragon version with kiddies back pack 🙄 So anyway I gave it a whirl but the graphics card failed on day one! Luckily MSI YoYoTech is local to me so I took it back & got a full refund. I then bought a 17" P37x from Scan, who I recommend based on previous purchases. The P37x is far superior to any MSI 'gaming' Laptop, the screen is superb altho' it does freeze sometimes & calibration is tricky, font size etc. but on the whole best Laptop I've ever owned. There's a new model with GTX 1070 but has the same annoying background fan noise but I suppose such a powerful processor needs to be kept cool, like this Laptop 😎
