Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P BIOS sometimes losting settings
« on: June 24, 2016, 11:29:22 am »
Hi all,
my GA-Z170-HD3P (no one overclock: CPU or RAM) sometimes is losting the setted parameters and alls return to default values.
Instead Date and Time is always correct.
The CMOS battery is new but I've replacing again, the power supply is Cooler Master GX 650 Bronze.
The firmware release installed is the latest (F5: 03/07/2016).

Someone have the same issue?

Hi, my PC mounts Crucial 8 GB 2400 MHz memories. I've tested them and no one problem coming up.

Hi, my PC mounts Crucial 8 GB 2400 MHz memories. I've tested them and no one problem coming up.

Greetings,
I'd test with a different stick of RAM.

If you have re-flashed the BIOS multiple times, the chances of a bad flash are low unless your source file is corrupt.

Power and MB battery are fine, otherwise you'd lose date and time as well as settings.

Even if you aren't over clocking, memory that struggles to meet BIOS specs could cause this type of behavior.  I think ElectroStingz is on the right track with memory.  You can try manual settings, or test with another stick of RAM to confirm.

Short follow-up:
After changed the 3th CMOS battery it seem that the BIOS holds all the settings at now.
It's a strange behaviour, but I'm thinking that the battery drain down because it is located under the PCI-Express Graphic card. So I'm thinking that the heat generated by VGA card could drain the battery prematurely.
