gigabyte ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 Ram slot not booting
« on: February 20, 2017, 02:59:01 pm »
Hello :)

The problem I have currently is that the 3rd ram slot on gigabyte ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 wont boot if I put in this ram stick http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls2kit4g3d1609ds1s00
cpu is I5 2500k

I bought 2 packs of those and the motherboard was new.
Yes they are paired like they were in the packaging as in one pair in 1-2 the other in 3-4.
Ram sticks other than the Ballistix seem to work in the slot and everything boots up the way it should. Not a single of the 4 sticks of Ballistix will let the pc boot up in the 3rd slot.
Also yes I have tested all of the sticks in first slot and also on different computers. All work.
The system was using 4x2gb rams at 1337 mhz 1.5v before the swap to the ballistix which are 1600mhz 1.5v.
Please shoot with any questions that might help me resolve the problem :)

What CPU are you running?  Have you reset your BIOS an attempted detection?

Crucial shows the RAM as compatible.  However, Crucial RAM is not listed on the QVL for this board.

Try setting the memory values manually with one DIMM installed.   9-9-9-24, 1.5v

BIOS upgrade (if available) may also help.  Best to stick with RAM on the boards QVL.

I set the values manually to that already.
Upgraded BIOS to the latest 2016 version.

The ram is working. I am using 3/4 slots with the ram and its running perfectly fine. The ram sticks work in another computer, and other ram sticks work in the slot that doesn't want to work with the Crucial sticks.

I was just wondering if the motherboard has some settings somewhere causing this exact ram not to boot in that exact ram slot.

Your memory isn't on the list at Gigabyte for that board. Plus Crucial isn't on the list at all. One other thing is that CPU doesn't support 1600 memory only DDR3 1066/1333. If you can get a Ivory bridge CPU it should work.
