« on: August 01, 2010, 05:39:44 am »
Hi all,

I have spent about a week trying to get my ram running in triple channel on the ud3r revision 1 mobo.  I tried all the different bios's and many different voltages and timings... nothing worked.  I had the same problem many people were mentioning: 6gb (4gb usable) showing in windows.  CPU-Z showed all 3 sticks.  The bios showed all 3 sticks in slots 1 3 5 but only slots 1 4 enabled. POST was only 4gb.

Well after reading about 2234598234798237 post on the subject i decided i would try one of the fixes that didnt require an RMA.  It turns out 1 of the cpu pins was crossed with another so I got a sowing needle and realigned it. (Sewing needles ROCK!!!)

So to conclude: Check your CPU pins! - I am also wondering if these bent pins are coming straight from the manufacturer as not that many people could bend pins just simply laying the cpu on the seat!!!!

Hope this helps some poor person who had the same frustrating BS!

Ciao

Thanks for your information about this growing problem, kominid. It is getting to manic proportions now.AS you suggest it maybe a manufacturing fault. I would suggest that everybody checks the pins of the socket carefully before installation of the CPU.

On a side note.

It's a pity not everyone reads these posts until it is too late! I myself didn't start searching for an answer to my problem until my problem actually surfaced :(

Just my 2 cents worth

No you are quite correct, nobody even thinks about coming on to a forum until they have problems and this is the trouble., how can you warn people to look out for something that they are not expecting.

Possibly indicating that he has read a very large amount of internet info on this subject?  ???

Hi,

Just wanted to add my 0,02$ as i have a similar issue.

Ever since i updated to the f5 bios ( i thought it would get rid of the electrical noise , but it didnt, i had to disable c1e) my board wont recognize all 6 GB of ram.
I've got G-skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ Ram (XMP turned on so they run at 1600MHZ)and i checked every single ram stick in every single slot on the board- it boots fine and its stable.

Now the funny thing.

If i boot my PC , go directly to the BIOS , and change ANY setting that has to do with ram , turn XMP on or of, change a timinig, or just switch "performance boost" from standard to turbo ( or vice versa) and then save and exit , then suddenly , after the re-boot all 6 GB are working fine and stable as a rock ( tested with memtest).

So its definitely a software/bios issue , any help would be appreciated ( maybe theres a bios setting or something that will help) as its no big issue but it is anoying  ;)

My Rig:
Core i7 930
6GB Gskill ram
Nvidia GTX 480
1 TB Samsung F3
Sony optical drive
Corsair CMPSU-950TXEU

The only thing I can suggest is to try one of the latest Beta updates for the board. Usually the very latest are released on TweakTown Forum first. It is sort of the US equivalent of here.

I haven't been here in a while but wanted to report on the problem I had.

ever since realigning the cpu pins my PC has run flawlessly except one crash after hours of 3d gaming.

So a big shout out to the people who invented sewing and those clever little devices!

That's all,

Ciao for niao

Well I am really glad that we were able to point you in the right direction and you have got a nice stable system again. The one crash you had may have been dowb to temperture or a driver issue. ;)
