GA-X58A-UD3R - No post, no critical beeps.

Building an new PC, this is my first i7.x58 build but have built many before.

GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0
Intel Core i7 930
Corsair TX750W PSU
6 gb Corsair Dominator DDR3 RAM (3x2gb sticks)
ATI Radeon HD4870
Windows 7

Built system with all components above and on power up system power up for 10 seconds with phase leds on motherboard lit. System then powers off, no critical beeps from case speaker. Will not restart on push of on/off switch must power cycle at PSU or power point to get system to 'boot'.
Clear CMOS - same symptoms on boot.
Break down system, removing drives, GPU and 2 RAM sticks - same symptoms on boot.
Move RAM around, replace with other sticks - same symptoms on boot.
Remove all RAM - same symptoms on boot.
Take components back to shop and they replace PSU, motherboard and CPU. Rebuild - same symptoms on boot.

At this point I was really starting to doubt myself, so I rebuilt system on an anti-static workstation and used another case speaker - same symptoms.

Back to the shop, replacement motherboard and PSU - same problems.

I am baffled. Can I be so unlucky to get multiple failed components? I am supposing minimum build needed to post and get critical beep messages is motherboard, CPU and PSU, correct?

You are correct, these are minimum components needed.

You don't say what rating or make/model of  PSU you are using and although you say you have swapped them this is the first thing to look at. Has it enough power (at least 550 Watts) to fire the system up properly

Also are you  connecting both of the power cables to the Motherboard. I know it is stupid question but it's  easy to forget or, as I have done, not push the connectors in properly.

I agree with absic, but would like to add that the PSU really need to have  a single 12v rail of at least 45 amps minimum an even that is pushing it. We really do need to know more details.

Yup, both 24 and 8 pin power connectors are connected to the motherboard. The power supply is listed in the first post, it is a Corsair TX7590W - 750 watts with a 60amp 12v rail. I've run each PSU through a PSU tester which has returned good voltages on each unit that has been used.
I'll also note that I am using the standard intel CPU cooler afixed with Artic Silver 5 thermal compound. Heatsink contact seems to be good as thermal compound is well spread on removal of heatsink.

Well the only thing that seems to be different is the location, as I take it the system worked when it was rebuilt in the shop. So have you tested your home power supply?

Oh! I see. That makes a bit more sense then. Even so how unlucky can you be? The chances of the same fault on all those different components would be like winning the lottery. There must be a common factor but I can't see it at the moment. It might be worth checking the pins on the CPU socket as there have been several instances of bent ones recently. Does the fans spin on startup?

It's not that I've doubt on you but since you already have multiple replacement and the similar failure, it may be a good idea to let the shop to build the system if the shop provides such service.

You may check if there is any bent pin(s) in the CPU socket. Have you ever tried other display card? By the way, what's the computer case that you're using? Did you power up the system with all components in the computer case or outside the computer? If you do not may please take few snapshot of the "workstation" you assembled the parts.

Actually not such a stupid question. I had someone recently who had not used the standoffs and it took me ages to discover  ::)the problem

Hi, sorry for the gap in replies but life got in the way...

To answer some questions - standoffs were used, different display cards were used, case is an Antec Sonata III, system was originally assembled and powered on in the case but with later replacements was assembled at an anti static workstation at my workplace, no I can't take photos of the workstation as my work does not allow photography for security reasons, no bent CPU pins that I could see on any replacement motherboard.

Thanks for all the interest but problem is resolved, store gave me another replacment the motherboard and this one works. Freak coincidence it seems.

These things do happen and it can throw you when they do but at least it is all resolved now. Thanks for updating us with the turnout.

In my opinion, I think the shop is not honest in doing business. May be the first two or three boards are not new boards, but "returned" board by previous customers.
