How long until the socket is replaced with a new one? Approximation is what I need, an exact answer isnt necessary

Well we are not 100% sure but next year Intel is changing the socket 1156 to 1155(not compatible) and I think that there is a change on the cards for the socket 1366 too. Undecided It is the way of our industry.
Sandybridge is not compatible with any of the existing sockets and is going to be more a one completely autonymous chip. The controllers will all be on it.

The oldest machine I've met is a Pentium 3 866mhz...
And I bet LGA1366 will last at least 4 years from it was introduced...

I really don't know, I haven't heard anything either way. I would think though that it makes sense to keep the same mountings as for the 1156 chip.
