« on: August 27, 2010, 11:02:38 pm »
Seem to have flashed a rev 1.0 bios into this new board of mine. Everything seems to be working, lucky i didnt brick it. Mine is a 1.1 revision.

Cant seem to find the right latest bios for rev 1.1, anyone know where they are or are the boards that similar pcb that it doesnt matter?

Firstly are you sure that it is a revision 1.1 board because this is a new one on me and I have just checked on the website and there is no mention of this update.

Obviously the BIOS update was the same anyway otherwise you would have bricked it :o Most BIOSes wont let you run the wrong update. It checks the BIOS checksum first and if it doesn't match then it won't go ahead. At least that's the theory ;)

What version were you running before the update?

There was bios version F5 on the board when i got it today. Its a fresh board got it in the mail today, finally threw out that horrbile Asus i had before. :)

Yes it is a rev 1.1 board, says so on the board and on the box. Probably very new then. Everything seems to be working, cpu z shows that it has sb 700 when its actually 750 but both revision seems to match on the specifications.

Strange though that there is no page at all for rev 1.1, but because everything is working im probably fine i hope.:)

It maybe that in Sweden you have as newer revision of the board at retailers than we do here in the uk. I will have to check some of the other websites. Did you look on the far east website and Tweaktown(the US) site for the update?

Thanks. Will have a look there, i checked different regions on gigabyte website have not found it yet. Maybe it will show up later, so far everything is stable and i have also written to gigabyte support where the page for my board is.

Good thing is that some issues i had this morning when i installed the board have fixed themselves, had some problems with ahci dvd driver not being detected properly. The bios flash fixed it. So i guess it is compatible because everything is working better.:)

Didn't you say it was marked on the board as well as the box? If so all boards are made in Taiwan so they would be available everywhere in a close period of time.

What was the BIOS update that you flashed it to?

Also can you list your hardware that you have attached it to please?

I have amd 965 c3, on the website its compatible. I think the newest bios releases fixed an ahci issue and also upgraded for the new 6 cores.

Yes that's what I wondered. You do understand that it is a Beta version and not fully tested yet as far as I know. By the time they are released on the website they are usually fairly stable.
You haven't listed the rest of your hardware yet? In particular what memory are you using?

I got 4 sticks "matched pairs" 8gb corsair xms 2 800 ddr 2 ram. Msi hawk 5770, Corsair tx650 power supply, wd 320 gb blue caviar 32 mb and a samsung 1tb spinpoint harddrive and a sony dvd.:)

So far no issues. I work as a editor, so ive tested premiere pro rendered a big project for an hour making the ram and cpu max out and it was stable. Ive played some starcraft 2 and avp and no issues.

I also know the rest of the hardware is stable. Ran memtest on the ram before and prime the cpu.:)

Hi there,

I have come across this problem/issue before and if I remember correctly the response given at that time was along the lines of: The differences between the Rev1.0 & Rev 1.1 versions of the motherboard are so slight that the same BIOS is used for both boards. Gigabyte could well have modified the layout or something along those lines whilst leaving the base components alone. The fact that the F7A BIOS has taken indicates to me that this is the case here and as Dark Mantis said earlier, it is very difficult to flash with the wrong BIOS because of the Checksum.

If everything is working OK I don't think you have too much to worry about.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
