Hey, nice looking boards especially that P67A-UD7 I do prefer the black definitely although I noticed they have kept the blue also.

I'll have mine in black please!

Anyone else notice these all seem to be Dual Channel Memory?
I'm not up on the Intel platform but I thought the Intel CPU's supported Triple Channel.

No absic all the new 1155 boards are dual channel again. I also notice that the UD7 is back up to 24 phases for the power again (how it should be)
It also nice to see that this time there are USB3.0 port connections for the front panel something sadly lacking last time. Ten USB3.0 ports and eight USB2.0 ports sounds more like it I wouldn't run out then. ;)

Thanks for the links, very interesting.

I guess I should start looking into the Dark Side of computing a bit more.  :D

I don't want to be the party pooper but I don't really like the gold on the UD7 . It looks rather gaudy, especially the "Ultra Durable" written on the heatsink.

Frankly, I much prefer the trademark blue on UD5. It looks more mature, sophisticated than UD7.

Other than that these are some nice boards ;D.

DM, do you know why they went back to dual channel? I'd think it's a more "today" idea with 4GB RAM being the norm nowadays. I mean, the 3x2GB setup you could get with triple channel was some nice forward thinking. I'm pretty sure 4GB just won't be enough, soon. There's also that urge to truly make use of that 64bit system and with 4GBs you're barely over the 32bit limit.

Yes I know what you mean about the gold but I like the UD7  board better. Actually they are both nice and I would be happy with either one.

As for the return to Dual Channel I haven't heard the reasoning but I would imagine that it is probably more of a commercial decision than a technical one although Triple Channel did put the memory controller under a good deal more pressure. Dual Channel is more mainstream and easier to come by in general I suppose. It's a shame though as you say it's not making full use of the available technology. I would guess that your answer about 2GB sticks of RAM wouldn't hold up though as the 4GB sticks are coming to the fore now so 2x4GB will give you a goood amount and that's still leaving room to upgrade. On a personal front I will be sorry to see the Triple Channel go though.

These are a follow-up / upgrade to P55 1156 socket, so that is why they are still dual channel memory.

2011 socket will bring an update to 1366 socket, and will still be triple or possibly quad channel memory.

I wasn't aware of that Lsdmeasap. I knew of the 2011 socket obviously but didn't realise that it would be retaining the triple channel or even quad channel memory. Sounds like my type of motherboard! Any idea on the intended release date?

LGA2011 is due sometime next year, and will supposedly have 8 core 16 thread monsters, PCI-e 3.0 and quad channel memory. Although these are rumours and speculation.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The socket 2011 boards are supposed to be slated for launch around the end of March beginning of April I believe. I haven't seen any firm dates yet.
