gigabyte GA-H55-USB3 memory problem
« on: February 22, 2011, 06:49:29 am »
Hello

I have a ga-h55-usb 3 (rev 2) bios f7 with a i5 650 and 8 gigs of OCZ memory (4x2gb) SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) OCZ3F1600LV4GK
In the bios it was running at 1066 I changed the multiplier on the mobo to 10 and the DRAM voltage to 1.648. all other settings I left at default/ auto. In the system memory unit it says supported is 1066 please help...I am a noob and don't know about overclocking. I read somewhere that I have to overclock the memory controller on the processor to get it to 1600. I have NO idea how to do this and see there are many overclocking options which I have not touched b/c I don't want to fry anything. I also have no option for extreme memory profile (x.m.p) it doesn't show up as an option at all.
thank you in advance

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

Now that the memory controller is on board the CPU it tends to make it much harder to overclock as everything is connected.

The settings you have on hte motherboard at the moment will let the memory run at 1333. You will need to increase the multiplier to 12 and make sure that you set the Uncore to 24-26x

The QPI/Vtt you will need to have a play around with but normally somewhere between 1.2 and 1.4v until you get it stable.

You might need to increase the memory voltage a touch too.

OCZ memory doesn't come with an XMP attached.

I was going CRAZY looking for XMP......I thought I was doing something wrong!
10 is the highest multiplier it will let me set the memory to. Before posting I set the DRAM voltage from 1.5 to 1.648. Do you mean the profile ddr voltage? b/c that says it's at 1.5v or set the dram ever highger? Does the  QPI/Vtt have anything to do with the QI voltage (currently 1.1v) I am very confused as these all sound like they are adjusting the same thing.  will any of this change if I set the bios to 64bit ? I plan on running 64bit but I wanted to get the memory problem fixed first.

as far the uncore I will look and see if I can adjust this.

thank you for the info!

Set the Uncore to 20-22 if your memory multiplier is 10x.
