GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Hangs on "Update Data to DMI" after upgrading the Bios

Urgent help required please.

I updated the Bios on a GA-MA790FXT-UD5P to F7.  Now the machine will not boot. It hangs on "update new data to DMI". I have tried replacing the BIOS update with previous versions (F6h, F6) - same problem.  The only "odd thing" I can describe is as follows:
On the PCI Devices Listing  (on screen) one entry in the list now seemd wierd. As the list appears on the screen - everything looks normal.
When the "verifying DMI Pool Data ........  "   followed by  "AMD Data Change....   Update New Data To DMI!   Update Success " appears at the bottom of the screen, one of the entries in the list appears to alter in the following way:

In the SVID column the number changes from 1458  to  1 58  with a blank space where the  4  was. This device is a USB 1.1 Host Controller on  IRQ 11

I'm desperate to get this machine running again.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Hi

What program did you use to update the BIOS?

I would suggest that you clear the CMOS completely.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least ten minutes before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self and then press F10 to save and exit.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
I used the @bios to upgrade initially  -  then used the F8 Q Flash to replace / flash with earlier versions
I followed your instructions (twice now) - no joy. Still exactly the same problem.
Any other suggestions ?

Right well I suspect your original use of the @BIOS program caused your problem and so we have now to start over.

Now you know how to use QFlash, download the latest BIOS F8M onto your USB drive and enter the QFlash utility.

On the home page it gives you the option to disable the Keep DMI Data. Make sure that you use it to clear the old settings.

Then you can carry on with the update.

Afterwards Load Optimised BIOS defaults and make any other changes you need to before saving and exiting.

Thank you for your replies.

I followed your instructions - without success.
So I decided to remove all drives / devices not nedessary for a boot.
After 3 attempts, it managed to find the HDD and boot !!
I have replaced the drives & deevices one at a time and now have a functioning machine.

Again - many thanks for your help

Well I'm glad that you managed to find the problem but it sounds to me that there is either a fault in the cabling or the drive itself then. ;)
