X58A-UD3R problem using Winrar unpacking to USB drive
« on: February 12, 2011, 01:23:32 am »
Hi there,
I'm having a problem with unpacking compressed files to usb attached drive.
I try different files and different usb ports  with same result.
I'm running windows xp 64 bit with raid 0 on drive c.
When I try to uncompressed 4 gig(40 files 100mb large) or larger compress file with .rar extension the whole system freezes for 2 minutes after reaching around 69-71 %.Can someone experience similar problem?I,m hearing some drive activity but nothing realy changes in windows task menager.
I'm very happy with uncompressing speed to the point of stopping at 70%, then I loose 2 minutes waiting time and nothing I can use.
Please help.

Hi

Try running the performance tab in Windows Task Manager while you are performing this operation and you will probably see why it appears to happen.

Hi

Try running the performance tab in Windows Task Manager while you are performing this operation and you will probably see why it appears to happen.

I did run performance tab and all looks fine CPU usage 2% PF 900mb.
I also try to transfer large file 4 gig and up to USB external different drives as well and the system always freezes for 1 min at around 15 sec (71%) before finish.
I test also same large files in windows 7  and same situation.
I did transfer files between the internal drives and all looks fine.
7 zip want hang the system but instead 1 min uncompressing the file will take over 3 min.
From my testing the conclusion is not the winrar  problem.
Then what could be a problem?????
