I have a Gigabyte EP45 EXTREME motherboard connected to an AOC LM720 monitor which is operated under Windows XP Professional.

Recently and without warning a problem occured at bootup.

I would turn the power on to computer and monitor. I would then start the computer and it would make its usual one beep. The motherboard splash screen would appear on the monitor briefly and then the screen would go black/blank.

At first I thought that I would turn it off and reboot. I did this 2 or 3 times and sure enough it started as per usual. I expected the computer to boot up normally after that.Unfortunately, the next day it did the same thing but I got it going by rebooting.

By turning the monitor off and on I discovered that Windows was actually loading but the monitor was not updating the screen. Anyone know a solution to this please? TIA.

Hi,
Have you leds?, any post error codes?   http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/reviews/7548-gigabyte-ga-ep45-extreme-living-review-4.html#post25032
Could it be your graphics card has been disturbed?, try reseating it,
Check your vga/dvi cables are connected properly!
Have you tried system restore?,
regards
