Alphacool Cape Fuzion Core 10 Acetal Reservoir Review

Alphacool Cape Fuzion Core 10 Acetal Black

by Dark Mantis

A nice new take on a tried and tested design. The reservoir supplied for review by Alphacool is their latest design, a small cylindrical plexiglas and delrin reservoir. It has two internal chambers both made from clear plexiglas, one central one that has a volume of 30ml and a larger outer cylinder that has a total volume of 110ml. By having two seperate chambers it could be used for a dual loop setup with different coloured cooling liquids if that was your choice.

There are five 1/4" BSPP threaded holes at each end of the reservoir for standard fittings or barbs. Included in the kit of parts are six black nickel blanking caps. The centre chamber can be utilised as a location for a 113mm CCL so that it shines through the liquid coolant. This could be especially spectacular if UV coolant and a UV CCL were used together. In the bottom end of the reservoir are also fixed four 30mm plexiglas rods. On the outside each has a 5mm hole recessed for a LED if desired. So lighting effects on this device could be very flexible. The only place I could find fault is that the top of the reservoir has to be removed to enable installation or changing of the CCL light.

Fitting the rerservoir is enabled by two supplied black plastic brackets. The tube fits inside them and then they have locking collars to make a firm hold. The unit could be fitted either vertically or horizontally. One of the 1/4" BSPP threaded ports could be used for a fill port connection if it is situated in a harder to get at position.

As for sizes the overall length excluding connections is 140mm with a diameter of 60mm. Once mounted in the brackets it stands off the surface 110mm. The brackets can be slid along the tube so any fitting is possible with reason. The bracket themselves are 95mm wide.

Visually it is very appealing and it has been manufactured well as usual. I like the innovative lighting options also.

For a small reservoir that has the usual inherant problems of vortexing at high speed it is a well thought out product and I award it 8/10

I saw this and thought how weird it is to review a resevoir, normally just being plain.

But now I see how awesome this thing looks! Shame it looks like you need to buy your own lighting, though...

Yes but you can't have everything and at least that way you get to choose what you want. I have just installed a UV CCFL in the centre tube and will probably add 4 UV LEDs into the rods. I will post pictures shortly.
