Hi, Im new here and just got a new GA-Z68X-UD7-B3, and i also have a new Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive, so i could use the intel smart response ssd cache feature.
My question is, I also have two WD raptors 150GB and I need to know, do I install the SSD drive first with my OS on it with my games or in what order do I install all three HHD to get the intel smart response to work?
sorry in advance, I am very new to this, so please be patient with me.
thx u..

How To Intel's Smart Response Technology:

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1587/1/

Basically:
Update to the latest BIOS
Enable RAID mode in BIOS
Install OS on HDD
Install SSD
Install Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) version 10.5.0.1027
Run RST, go to Accelerate menu and Enable/Configure SRT.

BUT YOU WILL BE A LOT FASTER RUNNING OS STRAIGHT FROM THAT SSD IN SATAIII MODE!!!

I would have to agree with nijel's last remark there and say that just setting up your SSD properly will give you all the speed hike that you want. These drives are some of the fastest on the market and after the spinning platter type are greased lightning!

Correct me if Im wrong, but if I install the OS on the 64G SSD drive, I will not be able to use the SRT?

You can if you make second small (5-10 GB) partition on the SSD just for that.
But why you need SRT if OS is on the SSD?

I dont know tell you the truth.
Could I just use the 64G SSD for my primary drive and use the other's as second drive or just storage?
Or can you advise me on how you would arrange my 3 drive's to get the fastest.

SSD on SATA3_0 in AHCI mode, single OS partition
HDDs on SATA2_2 and SATA2_3 as storage drives

or if you can live with 150 GB storage space you can do RAID1 with the raptors for extra data safety.
That's what I do with my G2 X-25M and 2x1.5 TB HDDs.

Ok, I think I get it.
For best porformance, install SSD on SATA3 port, Then set my 2 raptors on SATA2 port's with my OS installed on my SSD right?

What graphics cards are you trying to get to work in SLI mode ? and what slots have you installed them in ?

Have you fixed the bridge in place ?
