Over 20,000 members now!
« on: June 04, 2011, 07:26:13 pm »
Hi I wanted to mark this special point in the forum's history as membership has now exceeded 20,000. This is some achievement as only roughly a year ago the membership level was only 2,500. This is due in the most part to all the hard work  and help that the forum members have been willing to impart to others who have issues with the Gigabyte hardware. Members in trouble appreciate a fast reply and help towards a fix as we know how frustrating trying to get answers from GGTS can be and many other help sites.

I was trying to arrange a competition to mark this event and everyone was in agreement that it was a good idea but in the end runn3R just didn't have the time in his busy schedule to make it happen but hopefullly it will just be postponed rather than shelved.

Anyway well done everyone who has helped push this forum ahead and upwards. ;)

Well I must say I'm as disappointed as you are DM, .... I thought by this date all 20,000  Z68 boards would have been approved dispatched and shipped to all members.... ::).

I think we need to send a strong message and go over runn3Rs head on this one and speak to the Big boss !

Nice to see the 20K barrier breeched and, as DM has already said, the growth rate over the past few months has been exceptional. Onwards and upwards and here's to the next 20,000 members joining the forum.

Well I have been instrumental in building other forums from next to nothing in the past and they start to grow at an exponential rate and take on an energy of their own as they increase in size. The hard part is to get the numbers building to start with.  8)

Well.....We'll go back to the 5 coffee mugs for the people that hit 50,000 posts and the occasional abusive post !

20,000 is a pretty good result though!......will be interesting to see the numbers where it starts to plateau.... good stuff DM,Absic and everyboby.

Thanks to Dark Mantis & absic for their support.

Yes runn3R I totally agree and the success is due to everyone whether they just answer the occasional post or help a lot. It is a joint effort and everyone involved should be congratulated.  ;D

Definitely Dutch Colonial Blood coursing in those veins ;)

Now back to business, ... You know, I just can't fathom the sudden increase of Australian's frequenting this forum? Before arriving semi-permanently on these sunny shores , ... I had to rely on my bi-annual pilgrimage to buy the latest Main-boards Giga had to offer.... or wait the mandatory 6 to 12 months that Captain Cook's Endeavour brought into port.

So it seem product is making the world wide distribution network now in a more timely manner......I even read an Australian post the other day about a Z68 board......Hooooo, Rahhhh.

Does/can anybody out there point me to a Gigabyte roadmap , or..... is there no such beast !

Runn3R , this one is for you as well.....Is there any possibility of a membership graph being made available from say the 5,000 member mark,.... nothing too detailed.....even some raw anonymous data with a date/numbers index to generate my own for posting (with approval).

Lastly was the proposal by PM open or a select few

22,000+Members  down to 16,476......was it the spring clean performed by runn3R ?, ... or has the recession finally taken hold, bar a run of faulty board leaving the factory, which I'm not going to hold my breath for.......to get back to 20,000 let alone 25,000........what are we going to do!

A little brain storming is in order people .... I think you will all agree, when member numbers are down, It can get a bit boring........ So how can we get a little more interest going to attract more people.

And my suggestion........... I think we need some type of in house competition of some description with incremental prizes possibly to keep people active and interested

OR What about a members only Trading section! where members with 25+ posts can buy or sell there kit to other members.....I know if this was available , Flea-bay would drop to second place in my books.......would much rather sell to someone I know will appreciate what I have to sell!

Yes the drop in membership numbers was purely down to runn3R having a clearout and trying to curtail the number of spammers and advertisers that had joined up. Hopefully it was only the nuisence ones who got the boot and no proper members.

I like your idea Allan of the incremental prize draw as everyone like to enter a competition. It would be nice if we could have some more unusual prizes as well as the usual motherboards.

If anyone has any unique ideas for a competition or prizes please post them here and we can put them forward to the company.
