Hello,

I have recently purchased an M8000X mouse and found that the lift-off distance is just horrible.
The mouse senses movement at almost 1cm above the pad/table. It's very high.
I've tried using PTP to calibrate it and maybe alleviate the problem but every time I try to use the PTP function the tracking stops altogether (cursor freezes on screen) and it doesn't start working again until I unplug and plug the mouse back in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The short answer is no.

I would think that even if a slight adjustment can be made it is only going to be small. What is your problem with the mouse reading from a short distance off the surface ?

Hi,

First of all the problem is not that it's reading from a short distance but that it's reading from a high distance off the surface. 1 cm is really high considering that this is a gaming mouse.
Secondly a core feature is not working at all. Namely the PTP (Perfect Tracking Precision). Like I mentioned before when I try to activate it the cursor freezes. (btw I'm using Win 7 x64)

I see. Have you looked to see if there is a firmware/driver update for it ?

It might be worth contacting GGTS as well to see if they can offer any help.

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.

I have the same problem with lift-off distance and mouse lags when I try to change button function in software. There is no firmware update for this mouse. This is a gaming mouse and with this extremly high lift-off distance I can't play any game... I can't use the software properly because mouse freezes every time I want to change button configuration or use PTP...

Finally I did the PTP function works and it corrects the lift-off distance on my mousepad but there is another problem. When I unplug the mouse or turn off/restart the computer the settings of PTP resets and I have to do calibration again. Doesn't the onboard memory store the settings of this function ? Do I really have to calibrate the laser every time I turn computer on ?

Hello,

the liftoff problem on my m8000x seems to be solved.
What i did :
=> assign PTP function to a mouse button
=> click this button => the mouse freeze (only X and Y moves)
=> unplug the mouse + plug
=> HOLD the profil button for 5 seconds as indicated here :
http://www.gigabyte.fr/support-downloads/faq-page.aspx?fid=1834&pid=3314

I've not yet restart the computer to see if i have the same problem as you, i'll tell you it ASAP.
Did anyone know exactly what this action (hold profile button) do ??

Regards
