GA-H55M-UD2H RMA question

GA-H55M-UD2H RMA question
« on: June 16, 2011, 05:17:55 pm »
Hi all - 1st post so bear with me.

I brought a GA-H55M-UD2H System board as part of a bundle - My current spec is as follows :

CPU / Processor:
    Intel® Core™ i3-540 Processor
CPU Cooler
    Coolermaster Hyper TX3 CPU Cooler
Motherboard:
    GA-H55M-UD2H v1.3 F11 Bios
Memory:
    4GB Mushkin (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24 Silverline
Hard Drive(s):
    Samsung HD753LJ 750GB & Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB
Graphics:
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SuperClocked 1024MB EE (External Exhaust)
OS:
    Windows 7 64bit
Case:
    NZXT Beta EVO
Power Supply:
    520W Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520 ATX2.3

I've been experiencing cold boot issues since I switched it on - it fails to boot once - then would work fine.

I've RMA'd the bundle back to the supplier - but I've been informed that one of the SATA connectors on the system board is missing  - presumed missing in transit - and that if they send the system board off to gigabyte - they won't accept it as it's physical damage.

Is there anything I can do? - I'm a little annoyed that I'm going probably going  to have to buy another system board due to a small piece of plastic missing.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I have never heard of one of these SATA ports coming adrift before and it smells a bit fishy to me. If it came off in transit then it would have been in the box you returned it in. If they didn't bother to look I would say the onus is on them. As a matter of interest it wasn't OCUK was it ?

DM (Dark Mantis) the Moderator will probable see this post in the next hour or two and possibly give you advice on some possibility of an alternative.... if that makes sense........there is the chance of a direct RMA but with the damage..........It will be DMs call.

Personally, it's a hard pill to swallow....... Even if it's damaged, Make sure you pack things BETTER then when they arrive. I've found in the UK retailers or Etailers will look for and use any and all excuses not to except faulty goods...........it's nothing personal, .... they just don't like the paper work associated with returns .

I've had a T.V knocked back in the past because of one of the 9 language copies of the cheap paper manual had some pen marks on it when I jotted down a RMA number while on the phone.

Anyway good-luck.......Aussie Allan...... UPDATE!  There you go ,, DMs there before I posted Again!

Hi,
   Thanks for the welcome.

no - it was aria.

What do you reckon my chances are of getting Gigabyte to process the RMA ?

Or getting a replacement SATA connector ?

Well I am sure that something can be arranged. It just seems a very funny thing to have happened.

I don't have hte authority to be able to make that decision myself and I think that if you  contact runn3R the Gigabyte representative on the forum he will do what he can I am sure. His PM details are:

http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=13

He is very busy at the moment however as he is covering someone else's job whilst they are away.

If you want to be proactive and cover more bases, email a nice email to Aria customer service, sometimes a follow up email worded nicely will unlock doors........I deal with Aria regularly and have found them to be better then most.......either,iether way , good luck.

if you totally fail on both counts, repost.......I know of a business that can probably replace the SATA port for a small fee.

Thanks both of you for your quick reply - I'll keep you posted.

Btw - the power supply I brought the 520W Antec High Current Gamer ( HCG-520 ) should be powerful enough ?- shouldn't it ?

Your PSU should be powerful enough considering what you have listed above. However as it ages it will lose power and you might then have problems, or if you want to add more hardware.
