Just finished setting up a new Z68X-UD3P-B3  with W7 Pro 64.   All drivers are installed, and the Gigabyte online update tells me that "All drivers are current".    I installed the EasyTune6 application from the Gigabyte CD.   I really want to have access to the features of this application.   It created an ET6 icon on my desktop.   I do "Run as Administrator" then I get the message "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to this computer", I click "OK" and then I get the little spinning "wait" cursor for about 3 to 5 seconds, and then back to the desktop and the application does not start up, no error message or anything .... just back to the desktop.

I don't see a newer version available from the Gigabyte website .... anyone have any ideas as to why this program will not run ??

UN-install completely....reboot.........reinstall.......use Revo uninstaller if you can as it get down deep and rips out everything to do with the program.

I have done that about a dozen times already.   Both using the version that came on the CD, and the version that is online in the downloads section (they seem to be the same version)  .... same results every time (I'm just using the Windows Control panel to uninstall).

Try using " Revo uninstaller" full function free for 30 days even for the Pro version.......use the most aggressive settings....will not hurt anything.....windows un-installer leaves lots of grap .........if this still does not work post back and we will crack on with the fix in the morning..... midnight for me ATM and need my solid 4 hrs of sleep..........just a thought,... is there a 32 and 64 bit version and have you tried the compatibility mode yet!........I remember someone else with this issue!

Okay ... did that .... downloaded the Revo uninstaller .... removed every trace of Gigabyte "anything" from the drive and from the registry ... had to reboot multiple times to get it all deleted ..... then I re-installed EasyTune6 from the CD .... SAME results .... little spinning wait cursor for a few seconds and then back to the desktop .... the application does not start up.    I am not aware that there are seperate 32-bit and 64-bit versions of EasyTune ??   I did try running in "Compatibility Mode" .... same results.

Okay, I found out what is happening .... I don't know if I should feel stupid, or what .... but I think this behavior should be mentioned in the documentation (it is not) and/or maybe with some screen message .... BUT .... installing EasyTune6 creates a desktop shortcut .... and you would think that clicking on this shortcut would launch the applications (right Huh) ..... well, it doesn't, clicking on the desktop shortcut then creates a Taskbar icon, and it is hidden by windows by default (at least on my system) .... I just happened to be messing with my TaskBar configuration and noticed this icon I didn't recognize, I clicked it and the EasyTune6 screen appeared.   So all that clicking the EasyTune desktop shortcut does is to add an icon to the TaskBar, which on my system was a hidden icon that I couldn't see being added.   Maybe this was the same behavior that others were getting when they also thought that the program was not running for them.

Hahahahahahahahahahahah......DOOH!......At least you know that the program has been installed, absolutely, positively better then anyone has ever installed it in living history........good to hear you got a result.

Sometimes if you give information of (push this button only) this nature people can get really offended, thinking your being condescending and simplistic

Glad we got there in the end, even if I was only a sounding board.

TDS,

Yes, I found the same exact situation when I have installed ET6.  Please realize that it is much better to do your overclocking and tweaking in the BIOS rather than with ET6.

I have tried ET6 on various builds for years now.  On a few of the builds, it worked well.  On other builds, it was a complete nightmare!

Example: Most of my systems were working absolutely flawlessly, then, after installing ET6, BSOD's non-stop and terrible instability.  What made it really frustrating was on a number of the builds, the instability issues remained even after the uninstall.  Thus, I had to reformat and reinstall Windows all over again.

I am not sure why these discrepancies occurred, but now I just do not place my systems at risk any longer...it was like playing Russian Roulette.

You will discover most of the mod's here recommend you do not use it...and they have good reason for such advice.

Hope this helps!

Overall good advise.......The more advanced you become , the less you need of a lot of these apps, but in the beginning, they make sense and easy to use........when they work!

Why you didn't download latest version from GB site?
Touch BIOS Utility B11.0607.1
EasyTune6 (Intel) B11.0512.1
Good utility to monitor is:
AIDA64 Extreme Edition 1.80.1455
HWiNFO32 3.82-1300
HWiNFO64 3.82-1300

TDS,

Don't follow Aussie Allan's advice to use Motherboard Monitor Tongue...the poor guy has been trapped in a time warp where he is stuck in 2004 Undecided....this is 2011, and there are much, much better programs...

I have found the following two diagnostic software programs invaluable:

CPUID HW Monitor

You can read about it and download it here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

System Information for Windows [SIW] (this one is my favorite)!

You can read about it and download it here: http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

I have the freeware version and it works excellent!

SIW is my favorite because it is so incredibly comprehensive.  I've not found anything even close to what it can do.

Hope this helps!

Sorry Aussie Allan!  We are still asking Scottie to fix that transformer beam to get you back with us to page [year] 2011!

Beam me up!

Soar
