GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 SLI question
« on: August 26, 2011, 07:10:07 am »
Hi - I have two GTX460 cards in PCIEX16-1 and PCIEX16-2 slots, but nVidia control panel is complaining that the cards can perform better if moved to higher speed slots. The only other card is a sound blaster in the bottom PCI2 slot.

Should the two populated PCIEX_16 slots operate at 16X, or with two cards do they drop to 8X? The online specs seem to indicate that they should operate at 16X...

Using driver 275.33... which thinks that both cards are using PCIEx x8 Gen 2 according to it's system info.

cheers.

280.xx is out for starters and does this setup have a bridge across the two cards?

Both those slots should work in x16 mode unless there is other cards in their related slots which you say there isn't. It shouldn't make any difference anyway as they would drop to x8 bandwidth which is still plenty for a graphics card.
