Moderators and Prototype Motherboards

Hello All,

As this is the suggestions section I thought I would run this past eveyone........so here goes.

Following along the same line as the car industry where they have prototypes to develop new models, I think it would be a good idea and Gigabytes gain, if the moderators were given the opportunity to develop a prototype board on both the Intel and AMD platforms. The amount of knowledge they possess and solutions they have provided puts them in a good position in understanding what the customer wants and their experiences. Though the development may be fairly complex, giving the moderators this opportunity could result in increase revenue and customer satisfaction for Gigabyte.

There are events like the Gadget show, at the NEC in Birmingham, where again the moderators could bepresent giving demonstrations and explanations about the various products and how best to get the most from your product.

I think Gigabyte have an asset in the moderators and doing the above could only enhance Gigabytes reputation further.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in our abilities and for some good ideas but I don't think Gigabyte will go for it myself.

    What!.......Just Moderators!.....A Panel of 5.........2 moderators and up to 3 Hero Members.........now that would be a hot cross section of the high end community.........I can imagine the final submission vote would be a very heated ............."Discussion".....  

  It certainly is a very interesting concept ..........what do you think runnR3 ?

It won't happen!

The idea is great and there is nothing like the people who use the boards to know where the strengths and weaknesses lie. I am sure we could do a fine job of planning what needs to be included and what could be dropped often better than some of the highly paid personnel at head office. We could also better decide what people are happy paying for and what they consider to be a waste of cash.

Also as Teknology9 says we see all the problem areas often even before Gigabyte themselves (and quite often find a fix too). The problem is that some staff wouldn't like the idea of anyone stepping on their toes and would consider their jobs in danger for a scheme like that to be encouraged. It is always the same in companies, the good ideas are squashed before anyone at the top hears of them, a matter of survival at the bottom.

The idea of using one of their biggest assets, the forum, to enhance their R&D section is a brilliant one but it would mean someone putting their neck on the block and maybe even shelling out some money, I can almost hear them all scuttling off to hide!

  Good move DM!........Reverse psychology!......... your ability to remain positive subversively astounds even me  (Shhhh! it's all right i won't tell anyone what your up too!)

  One of the reasons  why they should consider this proposal.........is Money! ..... Money can shift Mountains.....and objections!

  If an Idea is exposed ... and implemented .... with very little up front cost ... and generates not only money, but substantial new market share ... 

                                             Here is a taster of what can be put forward by an end user, let alone a  Panel....

  Although multi GPU support is a very important revenue base with Mother-boards.......it's not the be-all-end-all...

     "Not everyone is a gamer"........frame rate and eye candy was the focus for near on a decade ... now the industry is focusing on the next bottle neck..........Hard drive access!.........we have gone from 70Mb/s to 850Mb/s in just a couple of years.......now where hitting a new bottle neck that no one envisaged ..............SATA!

  There are innovative company's out there that have met this hurdle head on........ the implementation of PCI-E based drive access was a stroke of genius .... but is the industry as a whole not recognizing the potential that's on the platter.

  Gigabyte broke the mold by going back a decade re, adding a modular connector for their iSSD ..........so now imagine a small PCB with say 2 or even 4 "SanForce Controllers" that can be sold separately.... for people that are quite happy to have a single (Or two) Video (PCI-E) card/s for there Photo/Video editing needs...............but require blistering hard drive speeds.

 Now with this......." PCI-E bridge Controller" in place, 2 PCI-E slots can be Raided..........add say 2x OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 into the equation and you have what.......3000Mb/s hard drive speed .... Now thats a quantum leap that any motherboard manufacturer would kill for!

          And that's just a taster .............. what say you people.....and runn3R ?

Hello All,

You see, it seems you are thinking about  it already!!! There could be other MB manufacturers viewing this forum who may be pro-active and go ahead to explore the idea. As I have stated previously the moderators know at first hand what the customers are experiencing and are qualified to propose real solutions for the present and more importantly the future. I'm sure Gigabyte are concerned with their profitability and market share and cannot rely on past success.......as you don't get ahead by standing still.
